I had written this review much before and those of you who are thinking that ''he can write a review and not rate mine'', this is the reason.
Well I am guilty of writing off-topic here, but this is the first time I am doing so and I hope that the members won't take it that seriously. So in this review I will write about Mouthshut but I will write some of the thing which I think can be used to improve Mouthshut and I will also take up some controversial topics. So, here I begin. First let me begin with the slightly controversial topics.
1) Star Writers - Okay, I know I am a Star Writer and you might be wondering what I have to complain about. What I want to tell is that quite a few of the Star Writers are inactive. They have not written a review in ages and rate very rarely. Why cannot MS remove them and make more deserving members as the Star Writers. I am not going to take any names here. All of us know who the writers are. I have no qualms against them. They are all great writers and wonderful people but shouldn't someone more deserving get a chance?
2) Points Redemption or Points themselves - Well, not that they matter much to me. As Meleahkh1 says ''I write for the joy of it and not for the pay of it''! But if MS ever plans to redeem the writers, it should make it clear that what would be the value of a MS point. I have a suggestion in this regard which I will mention later.
3) Review of the Day - MS is pretty transparent in most of the regards, but I don't know on what basis the review of the day is selected. I have seen reviews which have a ''R'' rating being selected as the review of the day. There are so many better reviews written by the same writer which are not taken. Something should be done here.
4) Community Center - This is one of the main things I wanted to discuss. Let me go to the Hall of the Fame first. As some of you might remember, I was in the Hall of Fame for sometime and later disappeared for reasons unknown. I have over 4000 member visits to my profile; I guess my profile has the most member hits after Amrita. I am not asking you to include me there, I have had my share of the limelight and I am more than satisfied as a Star Writer, but I would like to know the reason and if you say that you use SORT technology, please let me know how this technology works or give me the URL where I can know how it works.
Then moving on to the Hot Reviews, I guess it should be updated weekly at least and none of the old reviews mentioned should be there. People should get to read new reviews every week. Mouthshut updates that section only when someone leaves a statement like I have.
The best debut section needs a serious revamp. How the hell is pooj (u know I’ve got nothing against you at all :-) ) a debut writer! Make it more dynamic please!
Moving on to the members flagged section, I have something nice to say but cannot as I fear it would be highly controversial. I'll tell something else though. I've caught so many writer's copying stuff straight from sites and no action has been taken against them.
Okay, so now let’s get to the improvement part.
1) Latest reviews - There was neat suggestion by Bforu who said that there should be latest 60 reviews on show as sometimes more than at least 50 reviews are written in a day sometimes. One more thing that can be done is that they can have latest reviews by each category.
2) Star Writers - There should be a list of all the star writers in the community centre. It is not fair that they are seen flashing only once in a while. They are Star Writers and they should be given proper exposure.
3) Points - MS should display the amount of points that a member has. This can be used to know how active a member really is. In fact a better idea would be to display the amount of comments written and reviews rated by a member. This will really show how active the really member is.
4) More Statistics in Community Centre - Well there should be more numbers in Mouthshut. Like most readings received by a member overall and most profile visits and most trusted members and most reviews written etc. This would be a most interesting feature.
So then let’s see how Mouthshut reacts to these recommendations and thoughts.
