Footpath, pavement, Pathway & walkway all these words sound different but stand for same meaning. But this word has got its place in dictionary & textbooks of kids whom we teach traffic lessons in their young age. But in real life this word has no existence in our lives.

We can’t find pavements these days, ya there are pavements but they are no longer useful for pedestrians, they are for other purpose shopkeepers use them for putting there stalls, they even let space in front of their shops on rent to rehriwalas like vegetable sellers, to those who sell petite things like sun-glasses,

Belts, burgers, cobblers etc. These shopkeepers charge them monthly rent for all this stuff, which they sold in front of their shops.

I am now giving u e.g. of areas adjacent to madhopuri.

Madhopuri, which is one of the most congested area of city.

Is facing this situation.

Starting from gaushala road where one can see halwai(they use their shops as sitting place for their customers & footpath where they place their counters in which puri-chana, samosey etc are sold), grocery shop,

Scooter repair shop, Chatwala, pakorey wala, ac repair shop, cycle repair shop, tikki wala etc. Here almost all shops are in same malfunction. Use footpath, which is considered as public property as there own property. They don’t leave any space for people on foot they are forced to walk on road instead of pavements, as they are already blocked with stuff of shopkeepers. This leads to traffic jams in peak hrs of day(when one is going to office & coming back).

No one is paying heed to this situation, its obvious that some legal authorities are with these shop owners that’s why they never care about ordinary people even if they complaint.

But now this situation will be seen in all places b’coz festive season has arrived.

I request authorities to please wake up & do something for this city Ludhiana. B’coz if in coming decade we want to change label of “Developing country” from our India’s name & rename it as “Developed country” then we have to take steps in right direction in right time to achieve this status. B’coz nations, which are developed, are not only developed in monetary levels but also at human levels. A place where people get their rights & are bound to perform their duties they stand to make a “Developed country”. A little step will take us all towards a giant leap.
