I had engaged the service of PN Writer in the year 2003 when I relocated from Mumbai to Dubai, at that time the experience was superlative.
Based on the past experience I chose Writer relocations over other international packers and movers who happened to be a little more competitive, while relocating from Chennai to Muscat in August 2015. This time the service turned out to be a disaster.
The sales person in Chennai gave all sweet talk and tall promises of making the delivery in 20-23 days. Believing their words we had shipped lot of cloths and vessels in the shipment. Once I confirmed the order the sales person vanished from the scene.
The back office people started insisting on making the full payment in advance. Once the amount was paid, they came on Aug 2 2015 and packed and picked the things up. The supervisor was making a lot of fuss about certain items. All the documentation was completed and handed over on 2nd August itself. Afterwards there had been no communications from them,
They knew very well that we had already traveled out of India, so we will not follow up. Since there were no proper communications from their writer relocations, we started contacting the sales person in Chennai through international call. He put me on to the operations team,
After so may pleadings they managed to load into on to a ship on 25th of August 2015(23 days after they took the stuff from us, as per promise they should have completed the delivery by this time). The ship arrived at Sohar port on 6th.
After so many calls the local office in Muscat assigned a person who sent me an email on 10th August asking me to submit fill in the request and submit an authorization letter on the company letter head. They could have completed these formalities much before.
After completing these formalities they are coming out with a story that in Sohar port since a new software is implemented, there is a huge back log and the earliest we can expect will be some time after 27th of August, which means more than 46 days, twice the number of days.
All these days we have to manage with very limited number of cloths. Since my daughter has to go to her college hostel on the 24th, I have to buy a lot of cloths. We are washing our cloths with hands because there is no washing machine. We had to buy a new set of utensils since all kitchenware are stuck. We made a rough estimate of the extra money we have incurred so far it works out to a minimum of$600. Writer relocators are not even apologetic about, leave alone paying a compensation.
