Hi all,
Have been thinking of getting myself a worldspace connection for quite some time now and finnaly decided to take the plunge after going through the website and getting reviews from my friends/collegues who had taken the service. So before I start yapping on how it is what my experience is ill just give an intro about the product, as I had read/heard reviews but there were certain nuts and bolts which took me some time to address and clarify and understand. So being a reviewer I thought ill fill you good folks on that first.....
Service:
Satellite Radio service with monthly/quaterly/half yealy/yearly subscription services. They have a boquet of 40 channels with a wide range of dedicated channles covering Jazz, Rock, Pop, Western calssical,
Equipments required:
A satellite receiver which comes in two models: BPL DIVA I and BPL DIVA II
the diva II comes with inbuilt speakers..(for all those folks out there who have comp with speakers and dont have any more cubes to spare)
Freebies:(Ohhhhhh yeahhhh....thats what im talking about)
One diamond pendant (with gaurantee card) with a 6 month subscription
Cost of equipments:
The cost of diva I is 1500 (without speakers) and I paid another 1300 for creative speakers 2.1 channel. there are a plethora of other speakers also available in market but then creative has the brand name and the service back up. The people at worldpsace were good enough to show me some speakers but they were pretty expensive 7000/12000 resp.
Installation (hidden) cost??
The set come along with a receiver, remote control, antenna and 5 mtrs of cabling. Now the hitch here is that the antenna has to be facing south east. hence if your flat does not have any south east facing rooms then the antenna has to be mounted on the terrace. Then you have to Rs 12/Mtr for extra cabling. Just an example....my flat is on the 3rd floor and our building is of 6 floors. so then entire cabling took another 25 mtrs and hence added expense of another 300 plus 60 for installation costs. one small point is that there is no way to verify the length the guy says.( roughly calculated with about 3mtrs per floor and you can get a rough length.)
Service back up:
I had purchased my set from E-Square in Pune(multiplex) on a wednesday evening. They promised delivery on thursday and installation by friday evening. True to their word and Kudos to the company on that. Stood solid by what they said things were up and running by evening. And the best thing is that they will do the delivery and installation at the times specified by you. I had said after 8pm and that was also fine with them.
Post purchase experience:
The music choice and range is amazing. There is something for everyone. and if you are an audiophile like me then you will be absolutely confused as to which channel you should switch to. All have great music and clarity is amazing. There are repetition though. but then as long as the music is good I dont mind listening to it more than once. My favorites are Orbit Rock (hard rock), Maestro(western classical), Moksha(devotional but then good soothing music at night to nod off) Jhankar(hindi hits) Faristha(golden oldies hindi), Gandharv and Shruti (hindustani and classical) and of course RM Radio. (mallu channel- for the benana chips eating, zimbly loving it mallu in me). The sound quality from the creative speakers are good so enjoying it thoroughly.
All in all my friends...top class rating for this product and for the service......go out and enjoy....like AR Rehman says....
