I know about the worldspace and considered buying it some 18months back and dumped the idea. But, recently in musicworld I got to hear their latest offerings. Especially a channel called shruti, which is a 24hour carnatic music channel. It was simply mind blowing. It had CD quality clear sound and the selections I heard seemed pretty good.
and the price was just 2,000/- comign with a 3 month subscription.
I jumped at it... And I felt I got back my moneys worth in just over a weekend! I left the radio tuned to shurti... And the music I was hearing was unbelievable.. It is impossible to find such music in music stores anymore!
The installation was totally a no-brainer.. I simply tied the antenna to my balcony railings and positioned it such that it was pointing south-east and in a place where it was giving the strongest signal (Visible in the radio set). I started receiving lovely sounding music. Ofcourse I needed to plug it into my Home Theater amp...
The worldspace has lot of other channels, like Gandharva for Hindustani music lovers and Jhankar for Hindi contemporary music... But, I feel the real value of this channel is in the classical section... Other music you could listen in other channels, tv and can even get the CD/MP3 etc. But, not the collection these guys have of Indian Classical Masters...
