I purchased a pair of Woodland Shoes on 11/04/09 Aero Club, Woodland Store, No.240/27, 9th Main Road, 3rd Block Jayanagar Bangalore.


After using it for 4 days, the skin on my ankles were ripped apart. I took the shoes back to the store and requested for an exchange or refund, since it had been less than week I had purchased the shoes. The manager said that exchange policy applies only to customers overseas and not the Indian Customers! Hence he refused to offer an exchange. He said the problem is with the hardness of inner leather lining and that it needs to be softened. Convinced with his “analysis” I left the shoes with him for a few days.


I got my shoes back on the 21st of March. Till date I have used the shoes hardly for a week or so, and the inner lining of the shoes is torn. I am totally dissatisfied with the product and service of Woodland Shoes and not to mention the attitude of staff in their retail outlet.

*After writing this review, I got a call from Woodland Head Office asking me to handover the shoes to the retail store to be considered for exchange/refund. The pair was handed over to them on the 26th. Yesterday I got a call from the manager asking me to buy another pair for the same or higher value. When I visited their store, I found only two designs in the same range(Rs1995) and I was not willing to pay extra for another design.



*Since the choice was limited I requested the manager to refund my money, for which he said that its against their company policy to refund. I told him that as a customer I am left with very few options. On one hand I was sold a defective pair of shoes, because of which I have lost confidence in the product and here again I am being forced to buy something against my will that too paying an additional amount. After listening to me, he said his Regional Sales Manager has to approve the refund and it would take two working days. I asked him for the RSMs number and called him then and there. He had a similar story to tell. that his boss sitting in Delhi has to approve the refund and it would take a week!(see how it changed from 2 working days to a week). I asked the RSM to give me his boss’s number in Delhi. I rang up that person and explained my situation for which he obliged and approved my refund.



*All it took me was 15 minutes and two phone calls, one to RSM and one to Delhi Head to get my issue sorted, for which staff demanded 2 weeks time!. This is the level of commitment this company has towards its customers. Thanks to their customer service, I have decided never ever to visit a Woodland Store again.
