Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki ,the premier mega serial aired on Sahara TV brought under the aegis of RajSri Productions boasts of a presence of multitudes of actors who are prominent names in the industry and television fraternity.The daily soap opera excluding weekends had a heavy advertising campaign before it actually hit the screen and garnered significant attention prior to its arrival.
The story is weaved around three sisters who belong to a high profile business family with Alok Nath being their single parent.It principally focusses upon the life of his youngest daughter,Rani who holds the centrestage in the magnum opus.The sisters have been endowed with primary attributes of preserving age old traditions and customs apart from having strong ethical values.All the sisters are portrayed as married women in the serial.
The last daughter of Alok Nath gets married to a person who does not belong to an industrialist family social status but has been chosen for his sincere and honest attitude.Rani is portrayed as down to earth,modest, sensitive, refined and matured girl ready to face challenges in life with indomitable faith in divinity and moralistic persona.
Rani adjusts herself superbly well in a middle class family setup without hankering for wealth and prosperity.Her mother-in-law illtreats her in the beginning but later gets transformed into a caring mother after she realizes the importance of Rani and her
sacrifices for the family.Rani has a younger sister-in-law and Raj has a brother who is already married off. Raj and Rani are happily married off much to the dismay of her sisters and brother-in-laws who were apprehensive of Rani’s adjustment in the family fold.
Raj is seeking financial independence in life and resorting to lowly jobs for the sake of livelihood.But that doesn’t bring negativity into the relationship with Rani.She is his pillar of support in the days of suffering. Raj suffers from a malignant tumour and has lost hopes of survival but he hides the matter of his dreaded illness from Rani and the rest of the family.
Raj eventually dies off in a car accident and Rani has to struggle on her own as a widow.Rani has to endure innumerable miseries owing to her loneliness and she starts working in a firm headed by her family friend.
The man who was responsible for Raj’s death arrives as a new entrant into the drama.He is a rich industrialist having the same facial features which Raj had and is also engaged to a girl in London.So the family mistakenly accepts him as Raj and rejoices at his arrival but Rani is aware of the fact that he is the cause of her husband’s death.Rani does not disclose it to the family and waits for the right moment.
Then as days go by,the family gets to know about the reality and receives a severe shock.But the family is forced to forgive him considering his umpteen number of sacrifices for the family.He decides to marry Rani to put an end to her widow status and brings the entire family at his bungalow.His fiancée is deeply shocked and decides to avenge the insult inflicted on her.
Now the man in Rani’s life has a wicked step mother who wants to grab the entire property of her husband for her younger son but she gets exposed at the right time.She is still forgiven by the kindhearted couple of Rani and her husband..The mother-in-law of Rani brings her niece at her home and they both start devising strategies to perpetrate difficulties in Rani’s life.
They even kill Rani’s father-in-law,the father of her former husband as he gets to know about their wicked plans accidently.
Now Rani has a supporter in Raj’s mother who is constantly protecting and guiding her against all sorts of troubles
.Rani and her husband lose their first child in the hospital accidently never to find him back.They are aggrieved and plan a second child but Rani being ill dies on the delivery table leaving behind a baby girl. The baby girl is looked after by Raj’s mother but gets humiliated often by her step mother who is the same old niece of her wicked step grandmother.The baby girl grows up to acquire the same set of features which her mother had and is so much similar to her even in attitude.
Rani’s daughter Pari has a step sister Khushi who is modern,suave,haughty and fashionable and does not treat Rani well.Rani falls in love with a college friend but her step sister is also in love with him.So Rani decides to sacrifice her love for the sake of her sister’s happiness. Pari’s sister gets married to her love courtesy the sacrifice made by Pari.Pari and Khushi now turn into loving sisters.
Rani’s lost son is portrayed to be nurtured by a maid servant who had snatched away Rani’s son stealthily from the hospital.
Now the fiancée of Raj steps back into the megadrama and decides to get her son married off to Pari in order to avenge her insult.She enacts as a sensible and matured lady quite unlike her and eventually succeeds in befooling the family of Raj.Her son ties the bond with Pari for his mother’s sake and when Pari actually arrives in her new family after marriage,her hopes get dashed and her dreams get shattered.
Pari is humiliated by her mother-in-law right from the first day and her husband is completely ignorant of her presence.Pari’s support lies in her sister-in-law who promises to help Pari in difficult times. Pari’s husband has a girlfriend about whom he tells Pari as well. Pari’s best friend is Khushi’s husband who invite Pari and her husband for dinner.
Khushi’s husband senses the fact that all is not well in Pari’s life and promises Pari to trust him if ever she needs his help.Khushi’s husband and his family is a simple middle class family in sharp contrast to Khushi’s family.So certain conflicts keep propping up owing to Khushi’s high handed attitude and keenness for a luxurious life style.
Pari is struggling hard to win her husband’s heart who gives a damn to her efforts. Pari is hiding the entire set of facts from her Daadi Maa,Raj’s mother.She is pretending to be happy and joyous in her new role as a wife and married woman.Now events are predisposed to seek a new set of forthcoming events to render the theme its most delectable flavour.
