Help & Support:

I have been using internet since 1997, and I have used atleast 30 different ISPs ranging from dial ups, ISDN, dsl, adsl, cable modem, ethernet, t1, t3 etc

I subsribed to wishnet around 2.5 years back, (I had Alliance Broadband but it sucked badly). Initially I was on a 256 kbps plan for around 3months after which I switched to 512 kbps. 2 mths later I changed to 768 kbps and finally around 1.5 years back I upgraded to 2 mbps unlimited.

As per as the speed is concerned its really great. I have seen my download speed remain around 250-270 KBps. I have found some speed drop during the evening hours(specially peak hours) upto 12am. I pay 2756 Rs to my local cable provider who keeps 1756, and hands 1000 to wishnet. Depends on your cable operator - if he intends to provide great support then he ought to charge more. I have seen cable operators charge 2000(1k each for wishnet & operator) but half of the time you will have frequent disconnection, speed drops.

The main factor for wishnet speed is local ethernet equipments like switch, cable(cat5), rj45 jacks(which fit into your lan card) and distance between the switch. If you notice a lot of lag, high latency, jitters, request timed out then even god cannot give you speed. I have seen cable operator use low quality switches which tend to hang frequently, get heated quickly during summer times and which will lead to disconnections. But the good switches cost around 900 like Netgear. So choosing a cable operator(not in your hand though) is as vital as choosing an ISP.

Around 1 year back I started having frequent speed drops in the evening which went down 32 KBps from 250 KBps. This was happening every day I started with my local cable provider, everything was fine, no ping loss, still low speed. This speed drop would only occur during evening times. I then took this issue to Wishnet, , made one complaint after another but no result. They tried to solve it through remote help but the problem remained. Many of their tech support also noticed the problem. In the meantime, occasional ping loss was there specially during night hours when no maintenance crew was available. This went on for 20-25 days when I threatened to stop my payment.

My cable operator realized that he was going to lose me as a good customer, he immediately offered to give me direct connection through fibreoptic. Even after fibreoptic connection(ping & other problems just vanished) speed drop was there. I came to know about bandwidth problems, but from next month the problem resolved. Since that day, there has been 3-4 days, when my speed went down otherwise its great. In one month lately I managed to download 250 GB.:-D

You can choose Wishnet, but be advised, use discretion about cable operator.
