The book is a simple travel experience of Sudha Murthy. The language is very simple and situations  very human, just like it would happen to you and me. There are no frills attached. There are 51 stories, some are short and some a little lengthy. But each story is unique in its own way.

This book can be an all timer, and I can bet you’ll never get bored. The stories are for people of all kinds… as each has a moral for all. The overconfident to stay humble, the rich to step down and be of help to the needy and many more….it’s for the reader to learn something out of it.

The language is simple, straight  and easy to understand. This book can be recommended for  school kids too. I'm saying so because the stories are kept simple and to the point and there are actual conversations which makes it even easier to picture it in the mind’s eye.

Sudha Murthy, has done a lot of charity work especially in the rural areas and has been a staunch supporter of  literacy programmes in many places and she believes in taking active part in the detailing of her programmes/projects. This results in her travel to many far and remote areas to supervise and know the developments of the projects that she has undertaken. So this is how it all began…she wrote her travel experiences which was published into a book “ Wise and Otherwise”

This book leaves all the typical self-help books far behind, as there are no set rules to be followed, meditation flah flah  blah blah  practised to be happy and merry.This book promotes many human qualities, It’s like helping yourself by lending help to others, this leaves you  feeling elated and also  enriching your life with a fulfilling experience.
