I joined Wipro in 2004 Jan. My dream was to retire out of Wipro(My dream company). I am with Wipro for the past 10 years. I had some medical problems, but was blessed with some very good managers\DMs, so was very helpful, so my family is very much patriotic towards Wipro. I got the band change properly until 2008, after which the system is not monitored properly or the HR is not that much interested in employees(not sure why)…for the past 5 years I am waiting for my band change. I don’t have the habit of asking the managers and troubling them for such issues.
I believe we are all in a perfect system which has all information and data about every aspect in Wipro. But who is to be blamed? People with higher experience are reporting to people with just half of their experience. Why? I know that a Lead can’t understand client’s communication(he himself has informed the whole team during a casual after client call discussion). He failed in the step plus exams the first time, as his grammar is really bad. He can’t explain any scenario to the team or anyone properly and fluently. He has been with client for the past 4 years and so knows people in other dept. and with their help completes the tasks(that too, he was the only person to have a production issue with his two products). He had the maximum number of wrong data while we consolidated data and completed a lean program.
When we went for a lean training, he was commenting that he does not understand head or tail of it. And when we completed the lean… he was referred as a lean practioner by the PM(that’s the peak of stupidity). Whenever I do automation, the inferiority in him forces him to not document it, while sending it to quality team as a process improvement. There was an automation done by a fresher(there is a problem/road block in completing the automation from day one when I started automation), I was happy to find that a fresher has got a solution for the issue(downloading data from client SharePoint). He was recommended for best SME award and he got the award.
After two days, we came to know that he has not got the data from client shares but from a manual excel sheet. Which is not an automation at all. Then how will it be qualifying for an award? I had taken so much of pain to automate all the reporting part of the team as these people were not reporting the hard work that the team was doing. Step by step I reduced the number of reports the team had to fill. Then created an automated report generator. Then an individual productivity report with graph for the PM and leads. Weekly and daily reports were only one click away.
But I was not even recognized for it. All these years I enjoyed working for Wipro, but now I am starting to have a bad feeling within myself. My opinion changed since before: If I had jumped long back, I would have got more salary and more growth is what I feel now!
Thanks and Regards,
Darius
