Dear All,
I had used many Operating Systems including Windows XP, 98, 7, 8, 10, ubuntu, endless OS, fedora, etc. I had very good experience with most of the Operating system used in the areas and moreover as a student of Computer Science, I know most pros and cons of different Operating Systems. Some, though not very good but good or ok services, I had no complaint for them.
But, I had bitter experience with Windows 10.
- Upgrade problems
Windows 10 has compatibility issues with hardware and software an sometimes it can't complete the upgrade process. One of the most common issues has been the problem activating Windows 10.
- It's an unfinished product
Microsoft is now offering Windows 10 as Windows as a Service. Technically, Windows 10 is an operating system that will continue to be a work in progress. and because of that we are likely to see more bugs and other issues on the regular basis. Additionally, because we're in the early days, you will see some missing features and inconsistency.
I've seen some issues with the Start menu where parts of the menu will just randomly disappear. Some Live Tiles also will not change colour automatically, and the Start menu will lose its colour scheme suddenly.
Windows applications or so called apps will suddenly crash and it is more often than in Windows 8.1.
If you perform a clean install your email accounts won't migrate automatically to the new Mail app, you'll have to set all your emails manually.
However, the good thing about the new update model is that the company will be releasing new patches, fixes, and features as soon as they are ready.
- Shutdown and reboot take a long time
Perhaps is not a big deal for many users, but it's to me. One of many things I liked from Windows 8.1 was the ability to reboot or shutdown in just a few seconds. I have a fairly new Intel Core i7 and 16GB of RAM machine, and I don't know what's going on with Windows 10, but now it can take minutes to reboot or shutdown.
