It is in form of narrative which a Bangalore entrepreneur(Balram Halwai) is describing to a Chinese President.

In his narrative Balram attempts to show the contradictions and complications present in Indian Society. He has experienced two India within one Country.
There is Urban India where everyone is educated, they earn handsome money, they live fearless and enjoy their life. There is another India called Dark India, where everyone has to struggle for good quality of food, people are scared of some anti-social elements prevailing within the society, the only employment they have is of being servant to some rich.Definitely a brilliant, provocative, startling, interesting and savaging work by the author.
