Whirlpool Magicook or is it MagiCrook?

Help & Support:

We bought a Whirlpool Magi-Cook microwave about 4 months back. All seemed fine, but suddenly, one day, the appliance caused the power to trip. The problem recurred on just turning on the mains supply to the microwave. we tried plugging in other devices like induction heater, rice cooker etc to the same socket, they worked fine.

A complaint was raised, after about 10 days a service engineer came and took the appliance. then, whenever we called, the response was same. there are some parts which are not in stock. we will deliver once it becomes available. Almost a month later, the appliance was delivered, but the problem remained. the engineer maintained that it was working fine in office.

Then he said, there must be a problem with voltage fluctuation. He took out a multimeter and checked the voltage and stated that it was just 60 volts. Did we look like a bunch of idiots? 60 volts and all other appliances working fine? Till now the problem remains the same. He said that he will return and advised us to get a voltage stabilizer. reading other reviews for Whirlpool microwaves, it seems this is a common problem.

My unsolicited advice: DO NOT EVER BUY WHIRLPOOL MICROWAVE OVENS. We had IFB microwave for more than a decade and the shell rusted, but the machine continued to work perfectly, so we junked it. we seemed to have made a big mistake of believing the ads. And in retrospect, we should have seen the Mouthshut reviews before buying.
