Story:

It is romantic Novel written with a back ground of a murder mystery.

Plot: A lady named RACHEL COURTIS , from St. Augustine , Florida wanted to be a television newscaster. She was eldest among the three sisters living with their divorced mother. Dona, the younger one fell in love with a rogue, Randy, with whom she married and a daughter , Kimmie, was born to her. But Randy used to hurt Donna physically as well as mentally.

He even deserted her. Donna left her daughter Kim with Rachel to see her husband for divorcing him and keep custody of Kim. But her , other was too apprehensive about Randy and made Rachel to run away with Kim to a distant place and never to come back for the sake of Kim. Rachel came to Plymouth, Massachusetts and started working as a swimming instructor. Kim’s name was changed to Bonnie and was admitted to a school. Bonnie used to call her mommy to which Rachel responded . She was always living in fear lest they may be traced.

Mitch Dalton was a District Attorney who always remained as a top class officer who always got the criminals prosecuted and sent to jail. But because of his few failures and his wife, having divorced him he resigned and took to sea. He returned to city after six months and his onetime assistant Ollie persuades him to rejoin the office and get DelCosta prosecuted and jailed. There had been the murder od Mr. MHanson, a candy store owner who was favourite of children. Rachel had taken Bonnie to store. She sat outside while Bonnie went in. But there was a gunshot. Bonnie came out and told Rachel that a man was shot. There was blood on her clothes. Rachel brought her home telling her not to think of the shooting.

Mitch is told that a 14 year old boy was caught with the gun. Police called it open and shut case. But Ollie told Mitch that it was DelCosta who was the actual murderer and so he must be arrested, prosecuted and jailed.

The plot is thickened. Rachel wants to save Bonnie from police investigation while Mitch gradually makes inroads in the heart of Rachel. Rachel , after lot of meetings with Mitch, unfolds the story about Donna, her murder, her escape with Bonnie. Mitch tells his story about divorce , his two daughters and his loneliness.. The murder mystery of Hanson and that of Donna is solved. In the process Rachel advices Mitch to visit his daughters. They have family union. And Mitch and Rachel get married. Mitch getsa Randy (murderer od Dona) and Delcosta (for murder of Hanson). A happy ending for Rachel, Bonnie and Mitch.

Romance: The writer has portrayed the romance and beauty scenes very skillfully.. For beauty of Rachel “she looked strong and feminine. And intelligent”. Rachel wanted to avoid Mitch, not only for Bonnie’s safety but her own self as she felt at heart that both felt attracted to each other. Rachel to Mitch”I didn’t want to see you, because I wanted you even then. I knew that if we were alone together, this would happen. And I knew that making love with you , getting that close to you, could endanger Bonnie. So I promised myself O wouldn’t let it happen”. Mitch asked” And now?” . “and now….” “She trembled, swallowing hard “Now the worst has already happened…….I want you Mitch”

It took a ridiculously long time to finish undressing each other, but speed was hardly their purpose. Desire was. Arousing it with excruciating attention to detail , prolonging it with the sweet ministrations of hands and tongues , driving each other to the outer limits of pleasure, then slowing down, backing off, turning gentle, only to take each other to the edge again…..and again. When Rachel sensed that Mitch was close to exploding in his arms as she couSld be, he ran his hands over her……..and tummy in a slow lavish massage which ended in his hands hooked at the back of her knees. He gently lifted her legs…….. and …… the excitement and trepidation that flickered in her passion=dark eyes.

The writer also talks philosophy of life. Mitch telling Rachel “…we get up in the morning and go about living our lives, without thinking that something we do or say that day might have repercussions we never imagined..”

Rachel “What choice do we have? Is we stopped to consider all the possible repercussions of everything we did, we would never do anything. Sometimes you just have to do what you think is best and worry about the consequences later.”

The book makes you read it non-stop because the narration is done in a way to keep you guessing and quizzing till you finish the book. It has suspense, family riots, family affections, fear, apprehension of a mother for her child, sad memories of a officer giving his best to his job at the cost of his family life, dedication to duty, respect for senior collegue, serving the law to save an innocent, romance, philosophy of life and real love for family members , neighbours and the society in general.
