Some movies are just BIG. Some movies are just fun and then some movies are just Great Stories. Welcome to Sajjanpur falls in the fine storytelling category. The movie has a great simple plot that is engrossing and very interesting.
Great performances by Shreyas Talpade and the 'awesome' UP accent is used throughout to give it the authentic touch. It made me remember the 'Malgudi days' where it made you feel good watching a story unravel on screen. It also reassures you that you don't need BIG stars to showcase a well-thought fun story. It also carries a social message which might be sad but is quite true.
Watch it with expectation of a fun movie and you would want to watch it again, just for performances and accent used. (Yeah I really like that accent and way of talking). Without giving out too much, I would like to end by saying that some movies don't look great by the title or cover, but they sure have surprises for viewers stored within.
Thanks to Shyam Benegal !
