A few days back I watched "A Wednesday". I had no clue what this movie was about though I had seen trailers of the film. I just knew that it starred 2 of our veteran theater artists - Anupam Kher & Naseeruddin Shah. This is one of those movies where you go to watch it bcos your friends highly recommend it to you. There is no grand publicity, no big posters...nothing to promote the movie in a big way. And that's just the way the popularity of this film spread - thru word of mouth.
The reviews of the movie were of course there, but nothing like A friend recommending something to you right? So with all my "reliable sources" assuring me that it indeed is worth a watch, I had no reason to doubt them and I did watch the film. From the beginning to the end I was glued. Its such a brilliant piece of work. No melodrama, no blood baths, no chest thumping hooligans, no dances & no songs. Very hard hitting and raising valid questions. I especially liked the part where Anupam Kher asks Naseeruddin Shah - Iski kya guaratee hai ki tum hume bombs ka thikana bata doge? And the reply is - Guarantee?? Main kya pankha bech raha hoon? Wow!!
It will also appeal to almost all sections of society including the youngsters & our IT folks bcos of the use of the gadgets. You might say that the plot was a little far fetched, but coming to think of it, if you had reached the brink of your tolerance - what would you do? I am sure a lot of times we have thought - let's just go beat the s out of these miscreants - right ?
So go watch it...its worth your time & money. Very thought provoking!!
