They are coming to your wedding with or without invitations!

I was so shocked to see how many wrote favorable reviews on this movie that I just had to write a review of my own! We have all heard the story of John Beckwith (Owen Wilson) and Jeremy Grey (Vince Vaughn) and their proclivity towards the wedding market in search of girls who are finely prepped and in the mood for romance amidst the festive weddings. Both have a habit of love ‘em n’ leave emand as we learn upon the most prestigious of the weddings and the finale to the season, they are each caught up in a different kind of romance. Vaughn is the victim of a sex maniac and Wilson is newly in love, both guys to sisters, daughters of the Treasury Secretary (Christopher Walken).

I was appalled at the humor and found very little to really howl about. This is entirely the point of the movie and found myself smiling in parts but not on the floor laughter as others before me had promised to deliver. The best scene was the two at the Jewish Wedding, with the pair celebrating the festivities in yamekas. Wilson is funny trying to be a part of the group as he is the one that all parents seem to warm to with his all-acknowledging attitude (He has had a lot of experience with this in past films). Vaughn is just a big loser looking for quick lay and I would see him coming from a mile away!

The worst scene was at the dinner table when Vaughn is “serviced”during his meal and conversation. Come on! At least they could have been more discreet. I cannot believe that no one noticed! At the dinner table one minute, can’t stand up the next and a few minutes later, Vaughn is up and standing with not a hint of what just happened (we all know why?)

Ok, so one more funny scene, and really a stretch was when the weird brother, who I just could not cope with because he was just unbelievable, turns out to be a nymphomaniac like his sister that is pursuing Vaughn and comes in to Vaughn’s room to have some good fun. Funny? Not until he reveals the picture of Vaughn on the mantel, which depicts Vaughn as an “Adam-like” creature standing next to a tree (in the Garden of Eden?).

Good Characters? Perhaps. Funny dialogue? Perhaps but too contrived. The casting of Christopher Walken, who was very underplayed and Jane Seymour, who was overplayed and the rest in the middle, were just a waste of time and I just cannot see what the fuss is about…Please someone tell me why!
