This feature is only for latest phones not for old phones. I have been using samsung galaxy y gingerbread for whatsapp when I try to connect my whatsapp to web. The only problem that arises is that my camera never recognize the qr code.
there must be a feature where a person can enter the secret code or one time password facility must be provided so that the phone have low quality camera or the phones which do not have a camera can also excess the web.whatsapp.com.
I was never able to use this feature successfully.
If you are using a good smart phones then their is no need to use the web version. As your phone is smart enough to save the data pack rather than the web version. It must be a success for old smartphones but it is useless for them as scanning QR code is the only gateway to excess the web portal.
