Hi guys.this is a review of a great nature resort in wayanad. Its a tree house complex that has been designed by Babu Varghese. Yup this is the same guy who has designed the famous house boats (kettu valloms) that ply on the back waters (review on those later).

The stay in the tree house is not a regular tarzan and jane affair. So if you want to spend your time swinging around this is not the place for you. The tree house has got everything from flush toilets and running water from taps. The water is carried down from the mountain streams and are hence fresh.

The tree house that I stayed in was a three storied one with 2 levels of bedrooms and a 3rd one which was a terrace. The furnishings are more of 4/5 star hotel category. The great thing about this hotel is most of the tree that it has been built on is left unharmed. So you have a huge branch going through the first bedrooM. The entire structure is wooden. with only the perimiter having steel barricades for you to lean on and look down and perhaps play the game that Kate Winslet and leo did in Titanic. (its not the painting scene that im talking about)

The other tree houses are situated some distance away but they dont have a lift. The tree houses there are interconnected with rope bridges.

The lift which carries you upto the three storied tree house is water operated. Meaning its a counter weight system. As soon as the bag fills up with water you are carried to the top. The water bag then empties and then lift comes down. There are also cottages at the floor level for a change of clothes and rest after a days trek. The tree houses are away from each other to ensure maximum privacy. All the vegetables for the kitchen are grown organically at location itself and all the staff remains there to attend to your needs.

At dusk they will bring up storm lanterns to place at different locations in the tree house. If you want to remain on top of the world (pun intended) then you can have all your meals also brought up and have it without leaving your perch. The view is amazing and the air is absolutely pure. At night we all went to the tearrace sit out and you can imagine the beauty of the night sky. With no pollution or city light to hamper the sight the night sky is simply breath taking.

We were desperately wanting for some rains during our stay to complete the experience but then that was one wish which was not granted.

There is a stream below the tree house where you can have a table and chairs set up for a evening snack. Im sure that during heavy rains you can have a wade there. But otherwise its just deep enough to drown your ankles.

You can spend your day time going for treks around the beautiful hills. But just be aware of the leeches. They provide high boots for protection though so its not much of an issue. even then by the time we exited our car and reached the reception we had a couple of them blood suckers with us. But then that was quickly forgotten after we got the first view of the tree house.

The staff there are exremely friendly and are very eco conscious in the sense that they are aware of all the scientific names of all the flora and fauna and are careful to not disturb nature.

Menu is very flexible and you can decide what you want to have. and if the crowd is not much then what you say is what you get.

The two days that I spent there was absolutely relaxing all in all I would definitely recommend this place to anyone any time.

happy touring
