I had my debit card number stolen.
I didn't lose my card, but somehow someone got a hold of my debit card and was using it without the pin to purchase gas in Oxnard, Ca.
I deposited my check into the bank and later that day, I went to make a purchase with my debit card.
It said that all transactions were denied.
I found that unusual since I had just been paid - so I called WAMU.
I could not get a hold of even ONE customer service representative at the time of around 8:45 PM.
All phone options were pre-recorded. I gave up to call back in the morning.
I called the next morning and spoke with someone.
I actually ended up talking to seven people.
They were transferring me back and forth between the bank and credit departments.
I am not joking - it was extremely frustrating.
After about an hour of being put hold and being transferred so many times,
they told me that they would close my debit card and send me a new one in the mail in about a week. I then was transfered AGAIN, in order to make my claim for the transactions the theif had made on my card.
They told me to call back if any transactions appeared that may have been pending, if I wanted to make a claim.
A day later, I looked at my account info online and noticed that two more transactions had been made. I called the bank - I have been on hold forĀ 30 minutes- twice. I still haven't received any service. I got tired of waiting and hung up.
I am disappointed and angry.
This is not how a bank should treat its customers when their credit information has been taken and charges have been made. It is important to resolve something like this immediately - the bank should know this.
I'm sorry to be so blatent- but in all honesty, I have to say that they are all fuckin' idiots.
I am switching banks as soon as this matter gets resolved. - And who knows how long that may take with WAMU. I refuse to be treated like this and you should too!
Think twice. Don't bank with WAMU.
