This was my second hard drive. My first hard drive was WD My Passport 500 GB hard drive. But soon after purchasing 500 GB hard drive, I ran out of storage and I needed to buy one more Hard drive. I did lots of research and I finalised this one in my budget. I purchased this for around 8000 from Infibeam. Yes from Infibeam. They delivered the product in time and I must say, this product is just excellent. It's been more than 3 years I have been using this hard drive and I am totally satisfied with it's performance.
It does have it's own pro and cons.
Pros:
Build quality is just superb. It looks very premium hard drive. It has glossy finish. It does attract fingerprints but that's manageable. Out of 10 I would give 8 for build quality.
Durability - I have been using this product from past 3 years and I must say, this hard disk is rock solid. I traveled with this hard drive for more than 4 cities and many of my friends have taken and used it roughly. But still the performance is awesome. Out of 10 I would give 9 for durability.
Speed - It has USB 3 cable. Transfer speed one can get on this is 40 to 50 MB per second. The transfer speed is also good. Out of 10 I would give 9 for speed.
Security - It has this security feature though which you can restrict access to your contents by giving some password. This is a very handy feature for many as your hard drive may contain some personal information and data. Out of 10 I would give 10 for security.
Coming to Cons:
It requires external power. Now a days, wireless 2 TB hard drive you will get it for same price range. Now, when I bought this hard drive, the cost difference between wireless hard drive and hard drive which requires electrical powers was too high. My budget was limited so I had to buy this one. However, this is manageable.
Service centers - WD doesn't have service center in India. The number provided on their website does not work properly(in fact it never worked for me). So, if you happened to be the unlucky one and by some chance if you damage your hard drive than you might have to ship this product to US for data retrieval. You can retrieve your data here in India but that might cost you a lot.
