LED televisions are very common now and 4K is slowly picking up with the households. Though 4K channels are still very rare, all the big brand broadcasters have HD channels now and a 4K tv can easily use HD channels. Adding to this, the craze of Android and wireless streaming to the tv is now the adrenaline of tv lovers.
As I am not immune to these, I thought of upgrading my 7 year old tv and started searching for it. I had 43 inch tv size with 4K in my mind and so started with the big brands first.
Sony - Way to expensive and costs a bomb
Samsung - Android with 4K - Beyond 40K+
LG - Same as Samsung
Panasonic - Did not like the models
Numerous unknown chinese brands are available cheaply and I ignored all of them.
Mi - I found them very attractive in price, but they had a lot of led panel complaints and so dropped Mi from my list.
Thomson - I did not like the models
And so I am left over with Vu. Some of my friends purchased the non 4K models and they suggested to ahead with this brand. So I started researching and picked up this model 43OA.
As the model name suggests, it is 43 inch in size. When I first switched on this tv, the picture quality is breathtaking. True Ultra HD. No doubt the picture quality is beyond excellent and stunning. At the price I had purchased, it is a not good but very excellent deal.
Came with vanilla Android 8.0 and no fancy patchings or themes or skins. So the OS does not lag and runs smoothly.
Now the actual discussion about why it is not best despite the excellent picture quality.
1) The bezels are not sturdy and wobble at the center of every side. Clearly the bezel is not fitted with a screw at the central portions of every side. Only the corners are fitted with the screws.
2) The power cable supplied is not a very good quality but not bad either.
3) The remote is very delicate. Definitely it will not survive the drops and bumps. They should have given a sturdy remote.
4) Volume is very low. It had to be increased till 25 or 30 for a comfortable volume level. Anything below 12 is not audible at all.
5) Searching Youtube with the given remote is a big nightmare. They should have provided a second remote with a keypad but they did not provide it.
6) Frequently Wifi keeps disconnecting. Possibly a software issue but still very irritating.
7) If the volume level is set at 30 and the tv is turned off, it does not remember that level. Resets itself to 12 after the tv is switched on again. Irritating.
8) Mute icon is not displayed on the screen.
9) Incomplete manual and strangely there is no customerr care details or toll free number for service or service center details in the manual or their website.
10) Audio quality is average but not good. If you care about the audio quality you have to connect the tv to a more powerful sound bar or home theater or good external speakers.
The only reason this tv earned 3 stars is because of its Extremely excellent picture quality, 4K tv at a very affordable price and its Android OS.
