I was woth vodaphone quite happily till my phone died with a power problem(in warranty). Vodaphone fixed it and all was well again. Then 1 week out of original warranty(6 months after the repair) it died again with the same exact problem. They refused to fix it and left me high and dry!( not great for a business customer). That's the good bit!
I escalated it saying previous fix was no good and they should be obliged to fix it again. I got passed from pillar to post. Ended up being told the branch manager would call me back. She didn't(several times) until I called them and finally got pushy about the fact I was being avoided. She got a junior in the shop to call me asking what it was about. The manager knew exactly what it was about and was supposed to be calling me to confirm if they'd take the phone in for repair which yhe branch was able to authorise according to HQ.
The girl got shirty with me because I was annoyed about having to explain everything to her AGAIN when it had already been explained in detail to her boss. Expecting to to go through the whole thing again when they were supposed to be calling me with an answer! This got real stupid and I had enough of a dumb child getting stroppy with me about them wasting my time. I went to the EE shop and got a phone from them the same day.
I got a cheaper deal, a better phone, much, faster service an an extra 8GB per month. In short vodaphone is staffed by a HQ that passes things to shop staff to deal with who are exactly that. Shop staff. No clue about service, they assume they are totally unaccountable and truth be told, with pretty poor knowledge about their own products.
I am 50 years old and have been using mobiles since before most of these "experts" were born. I work in IT and have a decent knowledge of telecoms products and above all running a business know about customer service and can spot a lazy fob off from a badly trained idiot from a hundred yards.
Yes vodaphone branch in Kettering Northants UK, I am talking about you! I moved to EE and have never looked back. I must have seen something good in EE because BT moved to buy them out shortly after!
Verdict. I would not take another phone through vodaphone if it was a totally free. I need a phone that works and without all the backchat and sloppy service I received from them. You know somethings wrong when their retentions staff apologise for the multiple problems and say if they were treated the same they wouldn't use vodaphone either!
