A second movie review of GVM written by me within 12 hours of watching it as I need to shed this off my mind as the least thing I can do being a big fan of GVM is write a review on his masterpiece.. The below link has the letter from the legendary Tamil director K Balachander written to GVM after he watched Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya and thats like a Tamil Oscar. The best part in the letter written is about making a movie with some intelligence embedded to it and not explaining every situation, plot, complex content, thereby getting the audience to leverage their thought process...

There isnt a Mayilsamy, Chinni Jayanth, Dhamu, Vadivelu, Santhanam, Karunas being pinned / tagged with the male lead... Rather a very interesting character the director has thought of which has worked out very well. I don't remember a powerful supporting character being played in a movie in the recent past... The director has cinematographic the songs very well and I haven't seen any director except Shankar or Manirathnam who picturize songs and GVM is no where far from them in giving life to those tunes on screen. My favourite is Hosanna and the mere fact of not living in Chennai to see these movies in a theatre like Sathyam, Devi, Ega, Sangam etc..comes and hits me so often..
The story isn't any new except the last 30 minutes which has an intelligent plot... But what matters is how the director takes us through the movie... As stated in the letter written to GVM, this is Simbu and Thrisha's career best roles and Simbu has confined himself to acting only what he has been asked to and hasnt tried anything new which is good. Simbu's dance is also choreographed very welll where he has done to the dance master's steps and havent tried any trampoline, tumbling gymnatstics as he does in other movies :-)
Cant forget about mentioning AR Rehman's music. When I bough the Audio CD I liked 4 out of the seven songs when I listened for the first time. Omanapenney, Hosanna, Anbil AVan & Kanukkul are damn good. I straight away did not like the other 3 songs though I tried listening it about 25 times... But when I saw the movie the other three songs were made to perfection on screen and the tune sounded good onscreen.., ..
Tip : Listen to all songs atleast 10 times before going to the movie and you can enjoy the movie even better....
A must watch with family, have been replaced with a Beep sound but we can get the jinx out of it :-)
Please enjoy this movie in a theatre and not in a DVD. Agree some multiplexes in Bangalore try to break even with every film that gets released and if thats something even you feel try it out in smaller theatres which has DTS effect.. But please NOT in a DVD player.
