The decision to change my refrigerator was primarily based on the need for more storage space both in the freezer as well as the fridge section. I looked at the various options available in the 450 Litres Frost Free range from Samsung, L G, Whirlpool, Godrej etc. but none could satisfy my need of the space that I was looking for.
Finally, I set my eyes on this Videocon Refrigerator at a dealer’s outlet in Bangalore and seeing its size and spaciousness I knew that I had found the Refrigerator that I was looking for. I had not thought of another Videocon refrigerator as I wanted to try the various new brands that had come to India.
Believe me I compared the Samsung and L G 650 Litres+ refrigerators with this Videocon 450 litres – any day the Videocon was still more spacious than the Samsung and the LG. Also, this Videocon refrigerator was much cheaper than the other brands.
I chose this Refrigerator based on the following factors:
I had been a Videocon customer for seven years – using one of their three door refrigerators.
This refrigerator satisfied my space requirement – 450 litres
This has really mammoth space both in the freezer section as well as the fridge section
Good space provision and utilization on the door’s inside
looked strong
offered a six year warranty on the compressor
Fully automatic defrosting system
Two separate levels of temperature setting for the freezer and the fridge
I was thoroughly impressed and so was my wife and some of my friends who had recently bought a higher capacity refrigerator than this one – found that this Videocon 450 litres was really spacious with very simple exteriors.
Worked very well for two days but just stopped functioning on the third day spoiling all the contents in the freezer section.
Videocon immediately jumped into action, apologizing and promised an immediate replacement within seven days and offered a stand by refrigerator.
Along came the brand new replacement refrigerator within seven days and it has been working fine till date for over a year now.
The main drawback of this refrigerator I find is that the doors are hard to open as a result of which the door gaskets tend to get loose. Also, at the bottom they have provided a very loose kind of a cover which keeps coming off - I guess this is just an aesthetic cover to cover the legs of the refrigerator from being visible from the front.
True companion to an Indian Household - moreover the freezer is really huge and useful to a family who are non vegetarians.
