Victoria Memorial is a marble monument build in the memory of Queen Victoria during the British era in Calcutta, 1921. It is the most attractive tourist destination in Kolkata. People who are touring Kolkata must have a visit to this place to enjoy the aesthetic beauty of the architecture. Being brought up in Kolkata, I have visited this place numerous time and hence I am going to share my experience so that the readers are able to get an idea of the place and list down in their tourism schedule.

1) Location: Victoria Memorial is located at the heart of the city Kolkata and is well connected by roadways to the terminal railway stations of the city Sealdah and Howrah and the airport. It is also well connected to the differend parts of the city. It is situated at a distance of 5 min walk from the Maidan metro station. Thus it is very much convinient to reach there.

2) Landscape: Victoria Memorial is built in 64 acres of land which has the beautiful marble monument surrounded by garden and a small lake beside it. The staues of British commemorates in the garden gives you the historic feelings while walking around. The best time to visit here is February to March as the scenic beauty of the sunset can be enjoyed well at this time. It is really a destination where you can walk with your family or friends around and relief some stress.

3) Monument: Victoria Memorial hosts a museum which has a number of galeries which include Royal Gallery, Calcutta Gallery, Portrait Gallery, Central Hall and many others hosting a number of exhibitions of paintings and novel around the world. The most popular being the Royal gallery displaying portraits of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, oil paintings etc. The Calcutta Gallery exhibits a visual display of the development of Calcutta from being discovered by Job Charnock to its transformation into the national capital in 1911.

4) Convinience: The entry ticket is very affordable of ₹10. Snacks and food corners are available inside.

Overall I am reviewing Victoria Memorial as a blender of exquisite beauty and elegant architecture which gives you relief from the monotonous life with a historic outlook.
