The mention of Venice reminds me of the song '' Do lafson ki hai dil ki kahani'' featuring Amitabh Bacchan ( who happens to be my favourite actor) and Parveen Babi. As a child I was always fascinated when I saw both of them singing this very romantic song sitting on a gondola. It even had a dialouge or two from the 'kashti waala' which was just awesome.

Today, I study 40 miles from Venice and make sure that I visit there every term. As they say, you can never get bored in Italy and if you are then you are not alive. How true!! Each time, I am refreshed at the mere sight of Piazza San Marco and all the pigeons crowded there.

If you are in Italy, somewhere around then the best way to reach Venice is by train. Though the first time I went to Venice, I took a bus and then the ferry to reach the main island. But of course its best to fly if you are not anywhere in a radius of 100 kms from Venice.

The best place to start the tour should be San Marco and if there isn't a very long line waiting to get in then it would be interesting to go inside. But if you are an impatient person (like me) then you can just stand outside and feed the pegions.

Please do not buy any eatbles or drinks from this place for it would cost you double the price than it actually is.

It is always a good idea to take a map from the information counters at various palces for the small alleys are very well capable of diverting you from the main course. If you are willing to memorise a few Italian phrases to communicate then you would know how interesting Italians are.

You could also take a ride on the beautifully decorated gondolas if one can afford the costs ( 80 euro) that are now a part of the World Heritage as declared by the UN.

If you see young, good looking sailors dressed in white uniforms walking around the main piazza then do not hesitate and ask them to join you in a photograph. They might not even charge you if they like you.

So, I guess I should leave the rest for you to discover..........
