On making the decision to go in for a second hand car in Mumbai, I looked about for a good dealer. Finally settled on Popular Car bazar in Andheri. Was not too convinced of the choices they provided. On walking back to Andheri station, on crossing Chakala I chanced to see this Black Accent GLX parked outside another dealer.VELOCITY CARS. This is how I came to Velocity. Believe me, they are cons at this job and it is only after a few months that I have realized the extent to which I have been conned. Foremost, they have sold me a car which has done well over 80000kms and yet the odo reading was modified to show 50000.
Though I suspected this I just got the confirmation from the Hyundai service center which keeps records of the vehicle service dates and ODO readings at the time. On inspection and test drive, the car was a dream. But on the day we took delivery, it turned out that a lot of parts were changed. The steering cover was a worn out one which was not the one present when testing. The cassette player had a broken face plate which was not the case when we tested the car. The AC which worked very well on the test drive was non functional when we took delivery. The list of niggles went on. The ones that we could easily observe, we fought and got it fixed. But as time goes by, new things are popping up.
Like the car actually having done 80K, having been a flood infested car that was painted and so on. Am stuck now with this white elephant which is bleeding me financially everytime I visit the service center. But if anyone is planning on buying a car from Velocity cars, pls ensure you take a good mechanic along and photograph the car you finally settle on and also check the papers and antecedents coz the chances are high that you will get taken for a ride.
