Before commenting anything on the movie itself I would like to congratulate Aditya Chopra for being an awesome inspiration to Yashraj films and now his own father Yash Chopra for Veer-Zaara.
The first half appears to be a remake of DDLJ, a cult movie. It is a very beaurifully shot movie with the northern landscape captured on camera with a pure heart and clean soul. The serene vision of the filmmaker becomes very prominent right from the beginning of the movie with Shahrukh Khan rendering the lovely song '' Kyon Hawa ''.
The best part about the movie are Shahrukh Khan who plays the character of Veer Pratap Singh, an airforce pilot and the ever-bubbly Priety Zinta who plays Zaara Hayat Khan, daughter of a Pakistani politician played by Boman Irani. And of course Amitabh Bacchhan and Hema Malini rock the screen once again after 'Baghban'. The performances are top class and beyond comparision. The music vibrates in every frame and resonates the heart with soulful melodies and extremely romantic https://lyrics. The dialogues by Aditya Chopra are crispy and deserve a mention. Above all the performance by Shahrukh in the courtroom while rendering a poetry written by him is by far one of the best in his career. It is in the true sense 'paisa vasool'.
With so much in sync, only the screenplay can play the villian. The script pace of the movie is very slow. It tends to drag in the second half. A lot of questions are left unanswered. By the end the maker seems to be in a hurry to reach the last shot.
All and all worth watching but only once, the repeat value is missing. But one thing to be appreciated is the effort put in by a veteran like Yash Chopra to deliver something clean and beautiful as this in todays time skin-shows and bare-dare indulgences.
