I would certainly like to review and remember and watch this serial again which goes by the name "Ved Vyas Ke Pote". I don't know how many of you have actually watched this serial, but I have witnessed each and every episode of this series, again it belongs to time when you have end to a serial, unlike today's serials. This series was directed by well-known writer-director Lalit Behl, who also wrote it, and I can call this serial's story as the best innovative story and thought.

NOTE: I was looking to write the review on this serial from long back, and was searching content related to its production/technical team/cast and crew members, so as to support my review, but was unable to find much information on it over internet, so I just decided to atleast write a review without much mention of names, which I didn't remember.

The plot of the serial goes like this - There are 3 brothers, smallest one was named Bhim Vyas (Rohitash Gaud, if you remember Mukundi Lal Gupta of Lapataganj, or terrorist Iqlaque Ahmed from the movie "A Wednesday"). They have their own business of book-binding in their peaceful city (I forgot the name) in Rajasthan. But the smaller brother Bhim always try to do something funny. One fine day, they went to Varanasi, for the "mundan ceremony" of one of the child of family, and there they come to know about their ancestors lineage, which track back towards the ancient time of Mahabharata, and they came to know that they all are actually offsprings of the famous Ved Vyas, who wrote the epic Mahabharata. The funny fact was till this current generation, everytime there is only one offspring, this time they are 3. After coming back to their hometown, they (because of Bhim's mind) put a case in court over BR Chopra (whose Mahabharata serial was coming on TV those days), for the claim of Royalty, since Mahabharata was actually written by Ved Vyasa, and they are his offspring, so by the rule, their family should get the royalty. Hence come a lawyer in picture (played by director Lalit Behl), who fought from their side, and many issues rose over the the Copyright law - like, what is the correct duration after which you cannot claim over copyright infringement. The serial was ended without a solution, as the director wants to put this question in front of Indian junta, so that they will decide what is correct and what is not, although in the form of a lawyer, director Lalit Behl put a great fight, and question in front of Indian law. And I forgot to mention a very important but funny character of the serial, who was called Samay, the narrator (Zakir Hussain, I hope you all remember this great artist), whose work is to come at the beginning and the end of an episode to brief about the story, and his starting was with this line, "Main Samay Hoon", just like Mahabharata's narrator's starting (I think its name was Om or Shoonya)

The beauty of this serial was the natural acting and sets. Lalit Behl shoot this serial at the original locations, showing the exact middle-class level families. Their house, their living-style is correctly depicted, which you'll not find in today's so called middle-class serial families (other correct depiction in a film I can say about Priyadarshan's directed Hera Pheri). The acting was original, and never looked like they're being directed, the simplicity of action tells the truth, wonderful direction by Lalit Behl, other than wonderful writing of the serial (I think he may have also written the dialogues too). So smooth the execution was that it just went like "makkhan", but one thing I didn't liked about the serial and that was it continue for very less episodes. I think it continues only for 26 episodes, the standard allotment of serial episodes that time at Doordarshan. It make the series very interesting and fast, but when you love a program, you want, it should continue for more :P Every actor did well to their role, the best being Rohitash, who was the star of the serial, and also Zakir Husaain in his funny narration. I didnt know any other names related with technical team, ao unable to mention them, but I was looking for all the episodes of this, so that I can relive the moments I cherished.

FACT FILE: Yes, this is a fact, that at Varanasi, if you go, then you may trace back to your older generations, since all the Pandits's generations residing over there have kept a track of each and every person who visit varanasi even once (either for mundans, or after death, when the ashes have to be flown in the sacred Ganga river), and they have a long files of records, also have ancient "tamrapatras" filled with these details

So, this serial was a perfect 5/5 for me, for all the goodness it spread across my whole family. And its broadcasting time was prime time, i.e. at night, when whole family sits together at dining table, and watch this serial while eating food. If you haven't seen this serial, do find the episodes, watch them and also forward me the details of that, so that I too can watch it again.
