Keep Smiling !. Review on Vaseline Lip Care

We people of Bombay hardly experience any winter and as a consequence, are often caught unaware about some facet or the other about how the wintry weather affects the body. To a recent trip to Himachal Pradesh, although I went all geared to face the chilly climes with a body warmer, a jacket, and a pullover, yet as the train was approaching New Delhi, I realized I did manage to miss out on something crucial. A lip cream.

What is it about the cold weather that affects the lips in this manner? I felt as if some pesky insects were stinging the entire outline of my lips making me moisten them by passing my tongue over them repeatedly. The fellow passengers in the compartment (both female and male) were convinced that I was giving some lewd come-ons. Moreover, I couldn’t even talk with ease, as I felt I would almost bleed there, leave alone smiling.

Noticing my plight, my friend lent me her pack of Vaseline Lip Cream.

A cute little white soft squeeze tube with a blue screw cap. Open the cap and you see the tube’s orb like head, with an aperture, to be applied and run over dry chapped lips. Just as I was to put it on my lips she shrieked, “Don’t use it directly on your lips.”

Oh – oh – ok… silly rude old me. Didn’t realize I was about to invade her personal space. I was supposed to take some on my finger and apply with that. She added laughing that if I wanted to use it directly on my lips I better get one of my own.

Nevertheless, within seconds I could smile again and within minutes I was socially acceptable to the other passengers. On reaching our station, I immediately reached the nearby chemist store n bought myself my own tube for Rs. 15/-

I freely used this on my lips every now and then (once in 6 hours), to keep my lips sting free, soft and moist, without having to roll my tongue over them, causing a strange discomfort to everyone around.

Vaseline Lip Care, a variant of HLL’s Vaseline Petroleum Jelly, is of the right consistency and some damn good emollient properties.

Not too sticky and heavy, at same time right enough for relief. Specially formulated to heal and give a prolonged moistening to chapped lips. No offensive taste or perfume either.

Quite a cute little, handy practical thingy, easy to carry around during travel. And the right size too (10 gms), to last through the few months of winter.
