One more of my comprehensive reviews on a shoes brand which isn’t well known among many but after Lacoste I would always prefer this brand. Vans is a brand which isn't heard much about in India but it's very famous in the UK. Recently when my bro returned from ship he had these stylish pair of sneakers. It was very much eye catchy and impressive.
The first thing that I noticed about him was his sneakers, they were literally very cool.
That's how I was introduced to this brand, and my bro said me that this brand was used by almost everyone in UK. He quoted "Vans for the UK people is like how Bata is for the people of India".
Even the basic models are quite impressive and worthy buying. Vans is basically into sneakers, hi&mid-top sneakers, slip-ons, winter shoes, flip flops & sandals, snowboard boots, canvas shoes, suede shoes and leather shoes. The most effective and trendy being slip-on and hi&mid-top sneakers.
I purchased the red and black checkerboard slip-ons at 1, 280 bucks from online shopping website. As I got discount and applied coupon code I got it so cheap or else the basic models in this brand range from 2, 500-7, 000 bucks.
Advantages:
Let me discuss the advantages of the slip-ons.
Very attractive: These slip-ons are very much attractive and eye catchy. As I mentioned earlier too, when my bro returned from UK, the first thing that struck my eyes was his slip-ons. It seemed damn cool!
Till date I have used many brands like Nike, Puma, Adidas etc but none of the brands had so appealing shoes inspite being basic. There are many shades available but the full range can be viewed on their website. But the ones available here are too sexy.
Tough sole: The sole is very tough and helps in protecting my foot from those pointed steep stones. The soles of slip-ons are generally soft but vans soles are very tough and protective.
Versatility: Once again these shoes are quite versatile and can be worn during any occasion, during parties, during office (the basic black version), casual wear, while playing too these are very tough. It goes on everything and anything. I have a habit of using my shoes very roughly so these would be great anytime.
Comfort: The comfort level is top class and gives the feel of wearing canvas with cushions within. Very smooth inside and no much worries about the inner sole. Comfort matters a lot while using the shoes roughly.
Great feel using them: It still feels great using them after almost a month and they still seem new and fresh.
Weight: The shoes on carrying seems very heavy but are lighter than one would guess after holding them in hands. The weight isn't felt once these are worn.
Few drawbacks:
I don't feel like mentioning the drawbacks as I'm in love with this brand, but a review is a genuine review when it's covered properly.
Much variety isn't available in India: If one would view the official website, vans have a huge collection of shoes ranging from sneakers to leather shoes. Not even 10% of their entire collection is available in India. But slowly and steadily it would come in India markets.
Regular cleaning and washing needed: The shoes upper part is of made of cloth and after using them to play or use them in mud the upper part of the shoes gets dirty so regular cleaning and washing is needed. If someone isn't worried about the looks in these shoes don't need to worry about this drawback. But these shoes are mostly famous due to it's look and feel.
Costly: The basic model starts from 2, 500 bucks which is too costly but frankly speaking I would say it's worth buying these kind of shoes.
FEW GUIDELINES:
1.Keep ur shoes dry and clean always.
2.Do not machine wash it.
3.Wipe away the dust with dry cloth and if ur not using the shoes for a very long, cover it nicely and keep.
Final conclusion:
Actually I wanted to mention this point in it's advantages but I would prefer writing this point here. It's about the VFM, and I would say it's definitely worth spending 2, 500 bucks for such attractive, tough, comfortable and versatile shoes.
Go for it blindly!
