Pakao!
'Pakao' was exactly how I felt. As nikamma as always, I was surfing channels. While on Star Plus, I caught Amarr Upadhyay, replete with gelled hair and blank expressions, Sony kept telling me that there is no one like Jassi. Sick of the usual soaps and serials, I decided to switch on MTV, hoping that I might catch a promo of Kareena Kapoor in Yuva. Instead, a commercial was going on.
120 seconds later, I pondered. Was it Ash's influence that Vivek became just like her? No, he does not giggle uncontrollably in the commercial, yet he is reduced to pure (tr)Ash.
Yet, love it or hate it, this spoofy commercial does succeed in its endeavour - to attract the consumer. And so I asked a few people whether or not they liked Vanilla Coke.

Vivek, why is Vanilla Coke close to your heart?
It has to be, yaar. I have endorsed it, if I say anything else, I would lose the money! Seriously speaking, the reason I like, correction, love Vanilla Coke is that it is trash, just like my beloved Ash - all hype, no substance.
Ahem, and don't you think that the commercial was dumb?
Of course not! It was so wacky. My only regret is that they didn't allow me to say ''Pakao'' instead of ''Vakao''. You know, in the original pilot for the commercial, I was supposed to remove my shirt and flex my biceps. But I flatly refused. I didn't want to receive 41 calls from Salman again.

Kyunki ... Coke mein kabhi Vanilla thi. The drink gave my ingenious sister the title for her next serial! Moreover, I am partial towards anything that has the slightest hint of vanilla.
And why vanilla in particular?
That is because the first ice cream I had licked along with a girl was a vanilla ice cream. I am talking about the ice cream I had with Kareena Kapoor in Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai.
Oh, so the flavour brings back your memories of the first ice cream you licked along with another person ...
No! I said that Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai was the first time I licked an ice cream with a girl Otherwise ...

I love Vanilla Coke, too. It illustrates me. Mixing a great song to create trash is what I do, while Vanilla Coke manages to mix a great flavour of ice cream and a great soft drink to create trash. Now, please do not disturb me, I am working on my next album and am listening to as many old Hindi numbers as I can for that purpose.

Raj, what's so bad about Vanilla Coke?
What's so good? The fact that it has the odour of stale bread is certainly not too tempting. It has lesser fizz and a taste which would make you swear off vanilla ice cream. It was earlier priced at a steep rate of Rs. 40 for a can in custom notified shops and although the price has reduces as it has been introduced in India, I wouldn't drink it even if I was paid money to consume it. I daresay, if someone found out the actual formula of Vanilla Coke, you might find urine among the ingredients listed.
To give credit where it is not due, let me say that it doesn't taste all that bad if it is absolutely chilled. It would then taste like the float you get in some restaurants where a bottle of Coke is added to a scoop of Vanilla ice cream. But then, in that drink, you can atleast eat the ice cream!
Let Coke stick to its original form. We don't care if it contains pesticides, but it surely should not contain vanilla.
