The Movie :

This film, titled VADH, is a murder mystery movie. It gives you the much-needed break from the regular hindi masala movies. Something that keeps you glued to the chair….you never know where the story twists!

The Producer:

Mr. Dilip Dhanwani....a well known distributor. He has established a name for himself in conjunction with many big production houses and released a number of box office hits….now has come up with VADH - his home production. He has tied his hopes and dreams with this project. Lets wish him- good luck!

The Star cast :

[Nana Patekar, Anupama Verma, Puru Rajkumar, Nakul Ved, Meghna Kothari, Arun Bakshi, Raju Mawani and Shweta Menon (special appearance) ]

Nana Patekar- as Dr. Arjun Singh, a psychiatrist by profession. Also, a respectable head of his community. Nana Patekar is at his best in the movie. The role offers him a nice change…a tough man with a soft heart.

Puru Rajkumar- as Aryan. Childhood friend of Dr. Singh. Comes from a rich family …his parents are no more, but have left a fortune for him. He is shown as a young, charming playboy.

Nakul Vaid- as Inspector Vijay Singh. Dr. Singh's brother. He is a new to the film industry ..but has several roles in TV serials and a few television ads to his credit.

Meghna Kothari -as Vijay's girlfriend. The actress who debuted with Fardeen Khan in the movie Prem Aggan.

Anupama Verma - as Mrs.Jyoti Singh …the beautiful wife of Nana Patekar. Looks gorgeous in the traditional Indian clothes as well! You may wonder how is she starred opposite someone her fathers age!! ….well, that’s what the story is about. Read on..

The Story: (in short)

One night an insane serial killer escapes from prison. The whole city panics…with 'Who will be next?' fear. The next morning Aryan's girlfriend is found murdered. Inspector Vijay Singh suspects Aryan committing the crime in the cover of the serial killer. After a few days, the victim is Aryan's second girlfriend.

The killer then leaves a hint ….targeting Dr.Singh's family next. The police department shifts the family to a safe, secluded place for their security and appoints special security personnel. But, the killer manages to get through.….Who is the next victim?? Why did the killer target Dr.Singh's family??

To know the answer, Watch the movie! ( I do not wish to reveal the suspense :- ) )

The Music:

Music by Vishal Shekhar (of Pyar Mein Kabhi Kabhi fame). The singers include Sunidhi Chauhan, Shankar Mahadevan, Sapna Awasthi and Jagit Singh!!

A mix n match of hummable tunes…with the forceful title song Vadh by Sunidhi Chauhan, a soft ghazal Bahut Khoobsurat Hai...…by Jagjit Singh, a light dance number Aayega Koi by Sapna Awasthi and Shankar Mahadevan…...and other cabaret dance songs.

The movie will hit the theatres tomorrow .i.e March 29th, 2002. Covers major areas of Mumbai with Central Plaza (Girgaum), Cineplanet (Sion), Imax (Wadala), Citylight (Matunga), Sharda (Dadar), Gaiety (Bandra), Shaan (Vile Parle), Cinemax (Goregaon), Sangeeta (Malad), Movie Gem (Dahisar), Jaya (Borivali), Jaihind (Lalbaug), Kamran (Kurla), Deepmandir (Mulund), Sahakar Plaza (Chembur), Woodland (Virar), Meghraj Multiplex (Vashi) and Gangaram (Panvel).

In my opinion...…

I was one of those few lucky ones who could catch the special screening of the movie. To tell you a secret, I was forced to watch this movie….just because my whole family (incl. uncles, aunts n cousins) were supposed to get together for this one. But, I don't regret it! I enjoyed the movie as much as everyone did.

I'm NOT a hindi movie buff. Infact, I do not like watching Hindi movies as much as I like English ones (I believe they make sensible stuff more often). Movies which are a step different from the usual love stories, rona-dhona n the like…are the ones which appeal to me.

With that frame, I liked Vadh….specially so because of the suspense in the movie which kept me tied down till the end. I never really liked Nana Patekar before this one! He carries the movie very well throughout. Puru Rajkumar gets a second chance with Vadh. His debut movie Bal Brahmachari didn’t hit well. There is a definite improvement in this one. Meghna Kothari and Nakul Vaid did their job well as supporting actor/actress. Anupama Verma looks more mature and has picked up quite well too. She is absolutely stunning!

Music was good….the Jagjit Singh number was a real treat for his fans (including me). Infact, the audio cassettes of the movie have a couple of bonus popular tracks by Jagjit Singh.

Finally, I'm incapable of commenting on the technical aspects…so I wish to keep my MouthShut on the same!! :- )
