Oh.. Somebody have stolen the screenplay... Review on Vaanam Vasappadum Movie

I believed in P C's word(''This film wont be like another 'Meera'. Its entirely different''). So, enakku ithuvum venum, innamum venum.

What he did in this movie was 'mere translation' of Sujatha's novel. If a novel is made as a cinema, then it should be 'transformed' into movie, not be 'translated'. Many places didnt fit for the movie. Even Sujatha's dialogue didnt helped to lift a film even an inch. Why should we go upto Sujatha?? Even the director cum Cameraman, who opened new doors in cinematography in Indian cinema, also not performed well as of expected. May be 'coz of High Definition Camera(HDC).

For those who donno abt HDC... Its a digital camera. Till date, ppl take the movie in normal stock(a.k.a filmrole generally), and then they hav to be converted into digital for editing. But, here in HDC, no need to convert it into Digital. And moreover, no stocks are used in this. So, the work will be easy. But, the major drawback of this is, the Cameraman couldnot find the flexibility of conventional camera in this HDC. (Thanx for Ramji - One of my frnd given these details)

In some scenes, it was like reflecting sunlight(when the villainlike fellow, scolded his workmen)... Can I say it as ''Good camera, or its a flaw in HDC??'' And in some other scenes, we can easily identify the ''Pasting'' Process... yeah?? (those scenes where Poongothai wandering in Roads...) And, PC's natural camera work didnt come out fully, I think so. If u compare with Santhosh Sivan's Asoka.. He came out with a better camera than Uyire. But, if u take Vaanam Vasappadum, its always behind AP.

It was a good plot actually... Why a man-handled woman should keep mum?? Why dont she ask for judgement??.... yeah... Good theme... I accept. Even the story also good to see(read??). But, in Screenplay... P C Sriram missed a lot. What was the biggest joke here is... Screenplay was written by 2 persons along with P C.

He wanted to show how a jolly, jovial character woman would behave after man-handled. For that, he should have shown her as 'arai paithiyam'(half-insane), in the first half. The biggest logical flaw in the movie was that, while her parents were in Jail, she got married, even with smiling face. I couldnt understand this philosophy.

And the climax was another comedy... The fellow who raped Poongothai(Heroine) didnt change his characteristics, even after his friend's advice, changed his mind fully after hearing some words from Poongothai. If I say it in AV's words, ''Ithu ellam Tamil Cinemaa'vukkey ulla Abatham'' (roughly translated as 'these r all the biggest shame in Tamil Cinema')

Then came to Music... By, (Late) Mahesh... Two songs were gud. Tat first song was really good. In the 'Vaanam vasappadumey' song, it was good when the lyrics ''Moodi vaithirunthum..'' came. But, the re-recording done by some other else. And as usual, like all other parts in the film, the re-reco also not good.

One can understand how editing can spoil a film. It looked like a serial in some places.

Reg. the cast performance... The hero is not at all fit for Hero. His face doesnt suite for that. And the heroine... Everybody has mouth in their face. But, she has face in her mouth. Her mouth was like that. But, anyway, she was okay. But, atleast, she should have (been?) tried to ACT. All she has done was nothing but overacting.

I couldnt get the point, what P C wanted to say 4m this film. It might be...''One can take a film using HDC only''. Nothing more.
