Fans may be old fashioned, traditional but they use very basic, fundamental concept of cooling i.e. taking available air and making it flow at larger speed there by giving the effect of cooling. Not much technology is needed to run a fan except a motor. Simple the technology low is the prize. This is one reason why fans have outnumbered coolers and AC’s. Air Conditioners have capabilities of uniform cooling. By cooling I really mean cooling. Everyone knows how it feels coming out of AC room to room temperature. Heater in AC’s makes life in extreme cold weather easy and warmer. They not only maintain cool or warm but sort of condition the air to suite our needs. That’s what makes Air Conditioners so popular than Air Coolers. Also cooler need cold water or Ice cubes to get the temperature down without which they are just fans.
I was discussing with achougoo about the fans stuff for new ideas or new aspect, which I haven’t yet covered. While discussing I came to know about an amazing fact i.e. number of fans each house has. This is may be a unnoticed or unrealized aspect but still is important. Number of fans you have including ceiling fans, exhaust fan and table fans is certainly more than number of rooms you have. Even if you have a AC in India you have a fan as a backup. However fans are kind of a long-term fixed asset. There is not much scope for technological improvement and also life of a fan is more than 20 years. May be that’s the reason why these companies aren’t making it big. One weird observation is that when one shifts his house he buys a new one. This may not be true for all but was true in the cases I observed. I will stop here before I get too deep in to the management and statistics. This competition has certainly made me richer in knowledge.
Usha TableMagicAir is a table fan with a mini rod support around which the fan rotates in 180 degree. There are three wide blades made of hard plastic to give a controlled airflow. In ceiling fans the blades are made of metal. As we know These blades are enclosed in a wired enclosing to ensure safety. This hinders the airflow to an extent but that’s unavoidable. We certainly don’t want our body parts getting in the way.
Regulator is button type. Four buttons are provided including one for stop and other three with subsequent increasing RPM speed.
The fan costs very less compared to ceiling fans. The model has a other sub version with log pedestal. The enclosure mesh is made up of steel and rest of the body is plastic. The blades are painted green in color and body is white. There are other colors to from including blue, brown and black. Major advantage of the table fan is that it can be moved anywhere because of its lightweight. Also the fan rotated around to give the air in all direction. The control knob is provided at the backside of the fan.
Similar to exhaust fans width of the blade is almost equal to the length of the blade. Only difference is that in an exhaust fan the blades are bent considerably to accommodate and in this table fan or any other the bending is little somewhat like the ceiling fans. This also acts as a good air mover as I mentioned earlier. Central motor is very powerful and you can’t stand the flow.
Like a ceiling fan table fan has its own merits and may be demerits but as far as I am concern there aren’t any cons with TableMagicAir. Only possible disadvantage is the space it occupies when not in use. What do you think?
