The Slow Food Revolution

Today we all are living in  a jet age. There is no time for anything at all. We do not have enough time to eat all our 3 meals properly .We do not have time to write letters, we do not have time to talk to our loved ones, the reason being our very fast spaced life nobody is to be blamed what with  new new technology everyday like emails.sms/mms television, microwaves and what not the list is endless. Friends lets get back to my main topic here, the slow food revolution.


All people nowadays eat fast food a lot and have forgotton the good old ways of enjoying food.Nutrition experts tell us we are heading the wrong way. We all gulp our food very fast and do not pay any attention to what we are eating whether it contains too much oil or too much salt or too much spices and very less fibre or no raw foods or fresh fruits at all.


So what really are we looking for in our meals today. Taste, Pleasure and some relaxation. Sadly all these three things are missing in our lives because of hectic work schedules, irregular hours, fast faced life nobody is to be blamed but still if we follow the simple 8 ways as to how we can eat our food we can still lead a very healthy and happy life.


[1]  Never eat when you are not hungry

Now that is a tough one. We have programmed our mind that we will eat breakfast at so and so time, lunch at so and so time and dinner at so and so time so even when we are really not hungry but as lunch and dinner time is fixed in our mind we will eat. You can always eat some fresh fruits or salad if you are not very hungry at lunch time or vice versa with Dinner time if your lunch was very heavy. Otherwise eating  without really being hungry piles up on our calories.


[2]Try to prepare your own food;

Means not to eat outside food very often[Now all Bachelors please excuse me but it is for your own good].What I mean to say is at least 2 or 3 times in a week please try to prepare your own food.As nowadays nobody likes to enter the kitchen the only time they dothat is for making tea or coffee . Mostly people order food from outside. If you cook on your own you will always make healthy food[and Bachelors when they make food they are so tired they will always eat less otherwise there is maggi noodles or sunfeast pasta for them]


[3]Always eat sitting on your dining table;

Do not just eat your food standing in overcrowded places, inside of you car or just standing Just for 10 or 15 minutes sit on a chair and enjoy the food on the dining table .It really makes lot of difference believe me.

Enjoy your food 100%;

Always enjoy whatever you are eating. If you just gulp your food while watching TV you always lose out out on the flavor. For example if you are eating Idli Sambhar savour the aroma coming out of the steaming sambhar, smell your curries your vegetables, your chicken chilly, etc etc. Our taste buds cannot detect all smellsbut if we chew our food well we can tell the difference between the different aromas coming out of different foods.


[5]Eat only the foods you like;

So many times we are forced to eat whatever we donot like like if we only like chocolate chip icecream if that is not available we end up eating strawberry flavor so what a waste of calories. So stick to your choices only and do not pile up on the calories.


[6]Eat in a very relaxed atmosphere;

Nowadays where ever we go like say in a fast food joint  it is always overcrowded we have to stand in queues to get our food and after that we eat burgers with greasy dressings so the first prefered place to eat would be your HOME SWEET HOME or still if you are going to eat in a restuarant select a restuarant where you can sit comfortably and do not have to shout at the waiters. The atmosphere should be totally relaxing.


[7] Donot eat in very tight fitting clothes

;This also is very important as if the clothes are very tight fitting it is just not possible to eat properly so please wear comfortable clothes while eating.


[8] Do some physical activity in a day

Now you all will tell me what has that got to do with our eating habits well everything. If we exercise properly we can control our appetite and once you start exercising you will be more aware of you bodyand those people at the gym will tell you  to eat healthy meals and forever forget eating at any fast food joints.


Without making this review more lengthy  I will just say one thing here to all the people who have read this till here thank you very much please not only see what are the ingredients in your food but also the ways and the circumstances in which you eat. Till then chew you food well and eat slowly and enjoy every morsel of your food.
