This is Raghavendra Rao from Bangalore. Well I always thought being a Vegetarian I will never have problem with Cholesterol. I was proved wrong when I had my first stroke 2 months ago. Because of that I underwent Angioplasty because of the fat deposit that had blocked blood flow in my heart. I began thinking, What was I eating that could have led to this. After my operation, My Doctor adviced me to reduce Cholesterol levels and also some weight.


As I already told you, my food was already a modest one and ate sweets and other delicacies only on Feasts and functions. So I told my wife to cut down completely on adding oil and I also stopped taking curd, but nothing helped. I read an article on Mouthshut written by a lady on how to lose weight. I was really impressed as the suggestions were very simple and also she has suggested someplace like Lifemojo in her article. I asked my Son to look into the website and he told me that its seems like a good website and they have diet helpline on phone.


Being a conservative South Indian, I did not like the idea of going to a Dietitian and also thought the food they plan will be very different from what I eat. But my Son insisted and he already paid on my behalf. The charges were about Rs 990 a month. Although this was not a big amount for my Son, I thought he was unnecessarily wasting money.


First call came from that service, they took my bio data, case history etc and also told them that I am strict vegetarian and I dont like to eat eggs. They started sending diets, it was available on SMS and Email. I showed it to my Son and he was happy. Diet Chart was very simple and they asked me to make small changes. I started walking regularly as they insisted that I should brisk walk for atleast 45 mins. It was then I was told by the Dietitian that Cholesterol can develop even if we dont eat fatty things. Body has the capacity to synthesize Cholesterol and it can only be controlled by burning it through exercise. I started to take my Wife also along for walking. We both started to follow the diet as she had slight BP.


Now after one and half months I have brought my Cholesterol levels to slightly more than normal. My daughter-in- law also started to take help from the Dietitians as she is 4 months pregnant now. Their service caters to a wide range of Diet related disorders


I decided to write about this article because not many people know that Such a service exists. If it can benefit me, it can million others. They fit the middle class budget. Also, I spent 2 lacs for my Angioplasty. If people become aware of their health before such a major tragedy strikes it is always better.
