Essential Uses for Essential Oils

I must admit that natural healing and the use of pure and simple home remedies tickle my fancy far more than traditional modern scientific cures do.

When I first decided to try natural methods to heal my many physical and emotional maladies, I was somewhat hesitant and doubtful that they would work better than prescription medications. One reason for my uncertainty was the fact that from early childhood, I have spent many days and nights inside of hospitals with one ailment or another.

Doctors and medications were all that I knew. As I mature woman, however, I became willing to explore the various alternatives to traditional treatments for various conditions.

Massage therapy, meditation, modern dance therapy, exercise therapy, chanting, and essential oils are just a few avenues that I explored and incorporated into my life.

Essential oils have been used for centuries by many different cultures for their many healing powers. I was first introduced to pure essential oils by a dear friend and co-worker who successfully helped his mentally ill clients to relax and focus. It was amazing to actually witness the transformation of many of the high-spirited and agitated clients.

I will profess, here and now, that essential oils can and do work for a multitude of conditions. The reason that essential oils work so well is that they share common properties with human blood.

They fight infection, contain hormone-like compounds, and initiate regeneration! Essential oils have potent anti-bacterial, antifungal, and antiviral properties. They even keep away insects and animals!

When applied to the feet, the tiny molecules of the essential oils can easily and quickly become absorbed into the bloodstream.

Here are but a few common uses:

For emotional application

Restless people.

Use frankincense, lavender, rose, ylang ylang or spruce oils to get it together. Abuse issues.Geranium, sandalwood, and ylang ylang oils work best

Mood swings.

Try using some yarrow oil, sage, fennel jasmine or lavendar. Concentration.eucalyptus, lavender, basil and peppermint oils are sure to help you focus!

Grief and sorrow.

Use lavender, clary sage, eucalyptus or juniper.and pray.

Common Ailments and Conditions

Gas in stomach.

One drop of peppermint oil in hot water; this works fast

Corns on toes and feet.

Apply one drop each of lemon, oregano, tangerine and myrrh oil to the corn.

Nasal congestions.

For stuffy sinuses use eucalyptus or peppermint oils inhaled.

Hair loss.

Use 3-4 drops of rosemary, 4 drops of ylang ylang, 6 drops of cedarwood and 6 drops of clary sage in your shampoo to encourage hair growth.

Dandruff.

Use 5 drops of lemon oil, one drop of rosemary or sage, and one drop of lavender oil mixed in a quart of water.

Stiff joints and arthritic pain.

Massage directly onto painful joints with a blend of these oils mixed in one ounce base oil like mineral oil. Use 8 drops of spruce, 8 drops of sandalwood, 7 drops of fir, 5 drops of hyssop, 4 drops of lemongrass, 5 drops of helichrysum, 4 drops of wintergreen or birch, 2 drops of blue chamomile, 3 drops of tansy and one drop of Idaho tansy.

I really do hope that some of these simple and easy oil combinations are helpful. There are a ton of websites cropping up daily on the internet that offer useful information on essential oils. And there are many companies that sell essential oils and helpful books on the subject.

My advice is to obtain knowledge before attempting to use essential oils. In fact, if essential oils are not of the purest type, instead of being healthy and beneficial, they may actually be toxic!

Seek advice from an aromatherapist or massage therapist!

God bless.
