Enjoy eating ghar ka khana but not at home... then Urban Tadka is the place for you. The newest edition in the string of restaurants in Andheri esp. Versova. Earlier known as Banjara - which was a restaurant and then turned into a dial-in-place and now has taken the new avtaar of Urban Tadka. The menu is primarily punjabi with a chef from Delhi and achar from Amritsar. The decor of the restaurant is simple and warm. Done up in white the place is dimly light. The tables are huge and chairs are made of hand-woven strings. And do notice the leg of the table - it is actually a tree trunk. The authenticity extends to the food as well.

The menu is limited. And almost all dishes on the menu are a must-eat. In other words there are no exclusive dishes - all are equally good. So if you are in the mood of bhindi - go for that or for arbi or paneer. And if you are a non-vegetarian, the nimbu chicken is a must. Although I being a vegetarian haven't eaten it - it is relished by everyone I know. Apart from the iced teas and the fresh limes - if you enjoy a drink then do try the sugarcane-vodka mix or the coconut water-vodka drink which believe you me is actually served in the coconut itself. The menu card itself is very creatively designed in the form of a slate. Apart from a lamp hanging over your table - the table has a small diya surrounded by flowers to add to the ambiance. The staff is courteous and helpful. Although you might have to wait a while before getting a table - cause the place is new and has generated lot of curiousity. And there are no reservations taken. First come first serve basis is the motto. Which in a way is good. At the end of a meal do not miss the jalebi and rabri dessert. Quite a combination.
