Pune University:A boon to failure. Review on University of Pune

Hi friends,This is Vrinda Patil,a brand new member of mouthshut.com.My review is about my own university wherein I have secured a BE Electronics degree.

My origin is Mumbai and I am officially eligible for 70% quota of admission in Mumbai after my 12th std.Unfortunately I had to shift from Mumbai as during the year 1999 the government declared the outside Mumbai quota round i.e 30% quota first which proned me to take admission as my 12th std PCM marks were on the verge of both Mumbai and Maharashtra.Lack of counselling from VJTI i.e our government college as to what can happen if I take up admission and will I be eligible for the 70% home round was not mentioned.This whole lot of confusion made me reallly upset as I got admission to Pune university, inspite of having good marks in PCM I had to struggle for my own home place Mumbai.The rule says that I can be eligible to mumbai but only during the last round which would have taken me to a worst college in Mumbai.

Here starts my fate with Pune University.....

I was admitted to Pravara Rural Engineering college,Loni,might be word of mouth for many but few actually knew about this college.God knows why is it considered under Pune University as Pune being 4 hrs and 30 min far from my college.Pune university as a whole is better off if one studies in Pune city as one can get all the facilities of tuitions and seminars and even guest lectures.

Our college did not have faculty members for some subjects and they actually made no provisions for some guest lectures or anything like a brief introduction from some expertise to get us well acquainted with the subject.We as students coming under Pune University were actually treated like step students as our opinions and suggestions were not taken into consideration by the university.

Our professors were called for the meetings at the university but were left unheard.There were no provisions made for their students in rural colleges.Our college always tried to pretend to be innocent and the university also kept on taking us for a ride.

Our syllabus what to say about that the same old 1997 course, no revised course all theoritical data, no practical approach.No exposure to industries and their current requirements.Different subjects,different refence books and 10 subjects all different in both the semisters.By the time we could finish one subject and master it there is whole new subject to study ahead...... in all (10) every year....ooooppsss!!!

Mumbai university has subjects divided in 2 parts in both semisters and our one whole part of maths is their 3 parts.In mumbai whole one semister papers is checked by the college itself.

YYYYYYYYYYYYY THIS PARTIALITY?

The most MEMORABLE and the most DEBTFUL experience which my university has given me is making me sit at home for whole one year just because they mistakenly failed me but my rechecked and reverified papers had to say something else.I was not a failure....But who can sue the university.....

My friends were made to fail because of totalling mistake and some had to because of one subject in 1st year which is not allowed in the third year, which is not the rule in Mumbai.The results of my batch were 150 drop outs only from my college and the year after my batch were 200 drop outs....what a progress to fail???Our practical marks also were never deserving,it was a blame to the university by our college but who knows how things were working.In my first year also I cleared one subject in revaluation.The results of revaluation come 1 or 2 days before you appear for your respective A.T.K.T exam.....sounds interesting naa!!

Calling up the university for results of revaluation will end up in shedding of lump sum money ,time and bacha kucha energy.Students feel its better to give re-exam rather than clearing papers in revaluation.

There is much to write but I think this being my first review might sound a bit illogical and might lay back to create an impact ,but this is all my personal experience and no enforcement to accept it.

I hope atleast a boring long lecture from me would atleast help a few if not many to select a right college outside Mumbai and may be in Mumbai also.Anything u do be sure u do it with prior knowledge about it.Remember always
