London...Is this the best city in the world? Well, it certainly has a lot of character and a very interesting history. I'm sure you are aware of all the major events that have happened over the past 500 years; if you aren't then look it up! Well, London has survived the plague, the great Fire, (Guy Fawkes, and jack the Ripper!), and is now a thriving financial and commercial capital of Europe and is home to many historical and wonderful Architectural works.
If you live in England and HAVEN'T yet visited London then I suggest you do; there's plenty to do and a day trip probably isn't enough - a week would suffice! There's the amazing Houses of Parliament (ok not so interesting, but very impressive) and Big ben, loads of bridges and lots of towers and palaces, most notably the Tower of London (home to the crown jewels) and Buckingham Palace (home to some very famous antiques (and their corgies!)) and there's lots of parks and shopping streets to occupy your time.
It is a real experience visiting London for the first time; your nose gets all black dust in it due to the high pollution from the huge amount of traffic, and it normally rains or is very cold in London. Go there at Christmas time and you'll be treated to a real show I'm sure at night time it's very impressive, but at Christmas time, with all th Christmas Lights?
It makes me proud to be English (I don't know why) and I have to say that London is one of my favorite cities in the World. Why go to Paris? all you need is a cooked breakfast outside trafalgar Square on a cold Winters' day.
With boat trips along the Thames and Designer shopping complexes and stores along Bond street, the vast array of shops on Oxford street, and the brilliant little covent garden, I really wouldn't mind living here.
A great city, full of charm and charisma, forget all the negative aspects, and visit London soon!
