I had Sindarogya health policy of United India.
There was no reminder for renewal, and I missed the maturity date. When I when to the office to inform them as to why no reminder was sent, or a phone call, or sms, the reply was inadequacy of staff and the office was under shift and hence no reminders could be sent. When I wanted to pay the premium, the manager told me , we are understaffed , and our premium is lower, so we cannot provide additional service like reminders etc.
Syndicate Bank equally irresponsible, saying their job is only to collect the payment and forward, other than than they have no responsibility on the issuance of policy, renewal reminders, non receipt of id cards from TPA (which in spite of repeated reminders, I am yet to receive. I will take it up with IRDA to make it mandatory with proof of communication by email, registered letter or SMS to ensure customers do not loose the renewal date and the continuity benefit.
No transparency and they work with some pressure, which is reflected in their behaviour. They had very bad experience with group cover with may companies, and the finance minister Pranab Mukerjee has given a categorical directive to jack up the premium or reject the renewal. Also lot of news about their poor claim settlement is in the news papers.
One needs to read the policy conditions and visit the website to clearly understand the hidden factors and loading of the premium etc and conditional acceptance of coverage , which is not made known when policy is issued.
Quality hospitals are missing. Every benefit is related to claim.
So in case you are unfortunate having taken the health cover, please remember the due date and pay on time.
