I would thoroughly discourage any Mutual Fund investor to even think of investing in any of the UTI schemes - however sterling the returns or NAVs may appear to be.
I had sent in a redemption request for direct transfer to my bank account in late October 2004 and have not received any response from them. I have sent two reminders from their Web site based online complaint section in Dec 2004 but have not received any response to that.
I then tried reaching them on their two published email ids: utinri@giasbm01.vsnl.net.in and uti@giasbm01.vsnl.net.in and quite predictably the mails bounced back!
They now have a myUTI section for the unfortunate souls who have invested in their scheme (https://unittrustofindia.com/us/MyUTI.jsp) but it takes eternity to open up - in my case, this site never opened at all and just kept on in the downloading mode!
I think I will have to revert to good old-fashioned telephone, paper-and-pen or better still, a personal visit to make a contact with UTI.
PS:I wish there was a rating lower than one *. UTI does not even deserve this one * but I cannot give anything lower than this.
