Mohini (Tezaab) Mohini marked the beginning of a golden era. She caught everybody's attention with her youthful 'ek do teen..'. Her terrific performance as an exploited step daughter, a jealous girl and a lost lover brought back meaningful and serious roles for women, which were almost extinct in the decade before. She mandated the requirement of brains along with beauty thereafter.

Rashmi (Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak) If anyone didnt fall in love with the portrayal, there is a very high possibility that the person was heartless. She was all about Innocence. Her down to earth portrayal remains so unique that its impossible to even try imitating her.

Suman (Maine Pyar Kiya) Her beauty and her cute dialogue delivery set standards as an ideal indian girl, for almost all age groups. Her submissive sensitivities and the morals and values imbibed in her made her the most likeable character.

Pooja (Lamhe) She was an example of a personality which dreams of nothing but impossible. Her portrayal was beyond time, age and anything in fact that goes in context.

Damini (Damini) She understands nothing but the language of truth. Her strength to wage a war against injustice comes from inside of her elements. Honest and Unselfish motives lead her to victory just as the portrayal leads the character to.

Benazir (Khuda Gawah) She was almost a live character. Playing an Afgan woman would have been so challenging, but she would never go out of focus and she grows on you just as the story does spawning generations.

Simran (Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge) If Suman had her standards in place, Simran did too in her own way. A strong personality, yet with a strange vulnerability, she made her way into viewers hearts so naturally just as her performance.

Nisha (Hum Aapke Hai Kaun) Her portrayal could be used as a text book to all aspiring actresses. Every frame she would appear in, she would demand attention. She was all about feminine 'adayein'. She drove millions crazy with her witful and an extremely graceful portrayal. The character played a major part in entitling the player, a superstar.

Anjali (Kuch Kuch Hota Hai) The character slowly and silently takes over the entire project. She leaves the audience helpless as she reminds them about their past lives. Two beautiful phases in her life, portrayed with such ease and charisma.

Rambhi (Godmother) ''Badi maje ki hai yeh raj-neethi''. I swear if you could ever forget this dialogue after watching this terrific rendition by the character. One could notice how belief in inner-self and strong conviction can do miracles during any challenging times of life. This rare character spawns through several phases and would leave you often surprised how precise a performer can deliver a character on screen.

Tina (Kuch Kuch Hota Hai) Playing a second fiddle to the main protagonists, yet scoring very high with the audience is a rare phenomenon and this role explains it all. Beautifully scripted, the character puts in glamour along with heart and soul. A less screen time, yet remains unforgettable.

Shaila (Bombay) Reality. Yes, the character is more connected to the reality factor than anything else. How love dominates any social structure of society, how self-made, ambitious lives built on hard work and hope are being torn apart in the name of religion, is all conveyed by this portrayal.

Veera (Maachis) Ever felt the same pain that the character is in ? and most importantly to the same extent ? You will, with this wonderful portrayal.

Janaki (Lajja) Spell-bounding, breath-taking, hair-raising, fantastic, flawless and satisfying the intellectual needs of viewers. A legend from a superstar in transit. Wonderfully scripted and portrayed with as much grace as one could imagine. A 20 minute role but one which could teach 200 things and ways to perform.

Fiza (Fiza) Her conviction, her mission, her focus. Slightly missing out on becoming a great role because of a few inconsistencies in the character sketch, it still is a sincere and appreciable effort.

Chandramukhi -(Devdas) Enthralling, bewitching and mesmerizing. Bearing the challenge of an obvious contradiction of the profession with that of the personality, the approach and rendition would surprise even the critics. Love, lust, hope, despair, pain, humility, agony, vigor and strength, all included in the bonanza package. The performer - A living legend.
