Pune-Nasik-Triambakeshwar –Indore-Ujjain-Omkareshw. Review on Ujjain

We are planned our summer trip by my Santro-Xing. Trip is planned for Pune-Nasik-Ujjain-Omkareshwar- Maheshwar- Maheshwar. Total traveled distance is 1550 kms.

Day1: Pune-Nasik-Triambakeshwar:

We are started around 5:00 pm from Pune and reached Triambakeshwar around 10:30 pm. 1 hour stop for dinner. Road condition between Pune-Nasik is good but traffic is heavy. There are lots of hotels &Dharmashalas in & around Triambakeshwar. We have chosen “Hotel Dhruv Palace” for our overnight stay. Hotel is pretty good and staff is co-operative.

Day2:TriambakeshwarDarshan

A regular tradition is taking a bath in Khund and go forDarshan. We took our bath at hotel and had been to temple around 5:15 am for darshan. Less crowd and we had a peaceful darshan. If you want to enter into Garbagruh and touch the Shiv Ling, you need to wear a Silk Dhoti without undergarments. Only gents are allowed inside the Garbagruh to touch the Shiv Lingam.

Triambakeshwar-Indore-Ujjain

We packed off around 8:00 am and had a breakfast and proceed to Ujjain. We have started from Nasik around 10:15 am. There is a four lane road between Nasik and Malegaon. Between Malegaon –Dhule Road is under construction.So there are some diversions between new and old roads. Between Dhule to M.Pborder , Road is two lane old high way and condition is good.We had a lunch at Hotel Rasraj in Dhule outskirts. This is the only one good hotel in and around Dhule. After this it is difficult to find a good hotel till Indore. Road condition is very bad once you entered into MP state.

After entering into MP state, you will find a one famous Kareem Baba Darga at Jhulvania.We have visited the Darga and had a cup of tea and started towards Indore. Four lane road on NH3 is under construction so Road condition is very bad [ I can say no Road ]between Dhamnod and Indore. I would prefer alternate route from Dhamnod even though you need to travel 50 kms more.Reached to Indore around 9:30 and had a dinner at UttamBhoh Hotel at A.B.Road and left for Ujjaini. Reached Ujjain around 11;30 pm and stayed at MPTDC Yatri Nivas hotel. MPTDC hotel is good and value for money.

Day3: UjjainDarshan:

Bhasma Aarti is famous in Ujjain temple. We reached temple around 3:30 pm. Already there is along queue for Bhasm Aarti. Fortunately we got a chance for Bhasm Aarti.Recently they are introduced Bhasm Aarti passes which will be issued one day before near temple office. Bhasm aarti will start at 5:00 am and ends at 6:00pm. It is worth to see. You can feel that you are close to god. You should not miss is the Bhasma Aarti or ash-smearing ceremony, in which hot ashes from the cremation grounds are smeared on the Shivalinga. This event is believed to symbolize the fact that life and death are inseparable. Again we had a second darshan at 10:15 am aarti. Had a lunch in Hotel Shanti palace and went to Kalabhairav Temple. Whisky is served as a prasadam in this temple. When we give a whisky bottle, some amount of whisky is poured into God’s lips. It will go inside. Not sure where it will go.That is god’s magic

Ujjain-Indore-Omkareshwar:

Reached Indore around 4:00 pm and visited one of our friend’s house. Stayed there for a 2 hour and started to Omkareshawr. Road is very good.Newly built 2 lane road.After Barwah and before 12 kms of Omkareshwar , there is a good dhabha on the banks of Narmada river. Food is reasonably cheap and good. Reached to MPTDC Narmada resort around 10:30 pm. Resort is very good. Location is extremely good. You can have a good view of temple and River from resort rooms.

Day4:Omkareshwar -Maheshwar Darshan:

Early morning we had a darshan at Omkareshwar temple. We hada good darshan at Omkareshwar. After darshan we checked out the hotel.And started to Maheshwar. Maheshwar fort is good. Don’t opt for any guides at Maheshwar temple. Nothing to guide by any one.Narmada river view is beutiful. If you ahve atime you can plan for swimming in narmada.Our trip plan ends here.had a good Keera (Khakdi) with Lemon and salt.

Maheshwar –Shirdi-Pune:

We have started around 12:00 pm in Maheshwar and had a lunch in a small dhabha in Jhulvania. There are no good hotels and dhabas till Dhule.So we decided to have a lunch in a small dhaba. We order Dal and Roti. Dal isextremely good. Reached Shirdi at 9:00 pm and had a dinner in Shirdi andstarted to Pune. Reached Pune around 2:00 am.
