Although, there are a group of people who did not want this movie to be released, it seems to me that the reason for their protest is quite undermined, saying that it hampers the image of Punjab. The Hon Judiciary perhaps gave an apt ruling which had the movie to be released.
The movie is a very sadistic and crude display of the rot that the drug industry is in actuality.
As shown in the movie, depicting only Punjab is just not the deal. The drug mafia is rampant all over the world.
Udta Punjab, according to me is an orientation for ordinary denizens about how the Drug Mafia operate, how the nexus between the Mafia, the Politicians, the Cops, the next door neighbor, the Celebrities, the Industrialists, the Agriculturists, etc. There also is an alarming display of the different kind of drugs available, their prices, where they are available, how they are administered, etc.
For me this movie was painful to watch.
These kind of movies provide more of a dreadful exposure, which could lead to encouragement of Abuse, rather than an awareness!
