Story:

I think the first time I hear of the Twilight serie was on a message board where the movie was actively discussed, I didn't give it much of a thought, didn;t even know it was a book to begin with. Then a friend of mine talked about it, and I told her that yeah I would give these a try once I was done reading what I had started.

Then my friend moved back to Europe and gave me the copy of Twilight and New Moon she purchased here in India to read them in English. And I started reading out of curiosity. I'm a total bookworm, and a really good book can take me close to no time to read. So true to this Twilight took me a day to read, sure I missed a couple of hours of sleep and skipped a few meals, but that book was just too good to put down, then as soon as I was done with the last page of twilight.

I had to immediately start New Moon and that one lived up to the expectation of the first one, mid way through New Moon I knew I HAD to buy the two next books because there was no way I would endure the suspense of not knowing immediately what would happen next. All in all it took me 5 days to read the complete serie, twilight, New Moon and Eclipse are all slightly above 500 pages, Breaking Dawn is a wooping 700 pages.

I never expected a teenage book serie to rivet me to the armchair in a manical thirst for reading, simply because in my experience what is written nowaday for teens and young adult is borderline debilitating and plots generally lack thickness. But twilight is WAY different. There is more to it than the impossible love between a human girl and a Vampire. It goes deep and touch topics like finiding who you are during teenagehood, rising above obstacles, making the most of what has been given to you...it is also a great story teaching about tolerance and working over differences. This book series explore universal themes of love, lust, temptation, jealousy, perseverance, life and death like many other books and classics before, but it is brought to today's young reader in a writting style that is both flowing and easy to read while still offering the beauty of a rich vocabulary and clean sentenses...none of that slangish vulgar style that has become the norm in today's youth litterature.

To parents of teens and pre-teens, I would recommend that you read the book too along with them, because what begin a "innocent" romance in Twilight develop into a deeper relationship with all the issues and dilemas it brings...be prepared to have to answer your child's question, or feel the need to have a good talk with them about.

Finally this book serie should come with a warning about how addictive reading them is, not to mention re-reading them.
