Kalyanji* Anandji's My 20 Favorite Songs. Review on Twenty Best Songs of Kalyanji-Anandji

Brothers Kalyanji and Anandji(K-A) started in the music business assisting singer-composer Hemant Kumar in the early 1950s. Kalyanji's early claim to fame was for playing the famous'been'(snake - charmer's instrument) for the Man Dole Mera Tan Dole chart topper from Hemant's Nagin(1954). Kalyanji turned solo in the late 50s, initially assisted by Anandji, before they officially became a duo. Chalia in 1961 was their first major hit, but it wasn't until 1965 and the release of Himalay Ki Goud Mein and Jab Jab Phool Khile that K-A became a major force.

Then followed Upkar(1967) and Saraswatichandra(1968), with the latter becoming the first Hindi soundtrack to win the National Award. Throughout the 1970s, Kalyanji-Anandji pretty much kept pace with Laxmikant-Pyarelal and R.D. Burman. They were rewarded with the Filmfare Award for Kora Kagaz in 1974. Their high standard of music continued into the next decade, before they began to fade during the mid- 80s.(I have taken the history from another site it may be wrong but for now it is the finding).

Almost everyone who ever listened to the song has loved it because of its Simplicity.

Kishore Kumar sung the song. He sung this song so well that he got award for it. This is among one of the K-A songs which is in Happy or Jolly mode. The simplicity of tune is just unbelievable. You just listen the song and you think of the imagination the Duo has.

Asha Bhosle sung the song. The song is remixed these days more than twenty times. Still the original song is the one best item. Innovations in the music brought in by R D Burman can be observed in this song.  K-A used the Burman’s technique and successfully accomplished. The one funky and unique composition.

Sapna Mukherjee & Manhar sung the song. One of the best songs in mid 80’s produced by K-A. The only thing you can witness in this song is simplicity and soothing. In Diso 80’s this kind of song is mind blowing.

I consider this song the best song by K-A. Kishore Kumar & Sapna Mukherjee the singers. Highest of quality enriched melodious tune and wonderful music. Orchestration just more than perfect. You name Kalyanji Anandji and this song appears in my mind. Simply extraordinary composition.

Kalyanji Anandji produced Safar. This song is sung by Lataji. The simplicity is its main essence and light music gives cool impact. The orchestration is again perfect.

Kishore Kumar Sung the song. The one beautiful song you could easily find this song in almost every best of the best album named to Kishore Da. Safar has the quality and soft melodious music. This song again reflects the same simplicity and special arrangements.

Mujra song sung by Lata Mangeshker & Kishore Kumar. The song is of the similar category as of Umrao Jan & Pakezah. The song is not less than that of the songs of these two movies. Lataji sung in style and Kishore Kumar is marvelous simply gorgeous performance, an all round musical creation. Originality and style of singing with top class orchestration are highlights of the song.

The movie has some of my favorite and I am sure yours favorite song which needs to be listed and discussed. Lata Mangeshker sung the song. These days the song is remixed but the noteable thing is its just few instrumentals are added with some new voice and re-recording, the whole music arrangements and are same unlike the other songs remixes.

Asha & Kishore sung the song separately. Both versions have equal joy with some different style of singing. One can observe the fact that K-A and Kishore Da when come together the songs have variations of vocal by Kishore Da that is b’caz K-A gives the singer enough room that he/she can sing as wishes, while most of MD’s don’t like interference in there composition.

Nazia Hassan sung the song. No need to say craze of 1980. 100s of remixes are made of this song and  loved by millions. The very best composition and singing by Pakistani singer. For some special tune K-A chooses the female singer. This shows the character of this duo that they are so cool and calm that even though those days Indo-Pak relations were not as these days but they chooses the singer and made a special tune for her.

A sad song, Manhar and Asha are singers. Ever heard ever loved. That’s what this song is all about. Singing on most of the parts is superb. K-A are excellent when it comes to pure sad song and this is what an example which can be quoted.

Kishore Kumar sung the nsong. The song is simple and sentimental. The tune is quite amazing and the orchestration as always is key. Singing is just the thing. Kishore Da won the Award for the singing of this song and another song of the same movie Roothe Roothe sung by Lataji also won award. K-A just missed the award that time.

This movie is considered to be one of the best for K-A along with Saraswati Chandra. Lataji sung the song and softness in this song is unmatchable. The tune is wonderfull and one just want ot listen the song more and more.

Lataji sung the song. Early days songs by K-A. Beautiful tune and excellent singing takes the song to the highest peak of praise for song . these kind of songs made K-A able to stay in high competition.

MannaDey sung the song. A routine K-A song but again its arrangements and tune make it the one wonderful song. The song mostly appeals archetypal musical lovers.

Saraswati Chandra

Lataji sung the song. Another sad song in K-A portfolio but it is worth mention. The simplicity is in it and the singing is out of this world Lataji just exceeds the expectations here. The lyrics of the song are very special.
