Rock music has always been a sign of the rebel and youth image. It has been associated with dope and scant regard for authorities. Also it was hated earlier by the culture police like gangsta rap is hated now. Remember Jim Morrison. Anyways rock music prevailed and produced the following thirteen musical masterpieces. I could only think of 13 songs, which can be regarded as masterpieces, and I wanted only a single song by a single group. Otherwise the list would go at least to 35 or 40. So the songs are: -

1) Pink - It was a song by Aerosmith. The song was ultimately funny and the video was a complete riot. Take a look at the lyrics of this song and you will understand. Ex- Pink is the color of Flamenco and Pink, It’s my favorite crayon. The video of this song still makes me laugh and this song I still enjoy. It is not your usual rock song, believe me!

2) Cocaine- This is a sort of an Anthem by now. It was played by the legendary Eric Clapton.(Who better than him for this song!). I still have not been able to catch half of the lyrics of this song. Though the guitar is very catchy and the one thing I love about this song is the way he says ’’Cocaine’’. The best part of the song undoubtedly. I heard that he has stopped touring now. Is that true?

3) We Will Rock You - Don’t tell me that you have not heard this song. This song is probably the greatest song by queen. The song is just around 2 mins. But are those 2 mins good or are they good! The drumbeats had become a rage in our class and we used bang the benches with the same beats. But I prefer the newer version of this song, which has some real neat guitar!

4) Another Brick in the Wall - This was once motha’ of a song. One of the hardest hitting lyrics I have heard in conventional rock. It goes we don’t need not education and then Hey teacher, Leave us kids alone. The video was a masterpiece. I guess this is the best song of Pink Floyd to date!

5) Crush ’em - This is a song by the heavy metal band Megadeth. They are a pretty neat group and their music is really head banging. Crush em is song with a lot of guitar and is very catchy. It is kinda an intimidation song. For those who are into watching WCW, they might recognize it has the old entrance music of the pro-wrestler Goldberg.

6) Hotel California - This is songs looks a little out of the place in this list. But I got to listen to this song only recently. This is by the band Eagles. This is song is too famous to be described. A fantastic song. I especially like that part of the song when in the beginning the guitars are over and there is this short drums just before the vocals. This song is absolute magic!

7) Take a look around- This is a song by Limp Bizkit. It was the theme song of the movie Mission Impossible-2. The drums in this song are the best. I personally feel that limp bizkit has the best drummer around. The best part of this song is when Fred Durst hushes and then the music reaches a crescendo and he starts screaming. A fantastic song!

8) Fuel - This is a song by the God of Heavy Metal - Mettalica. This is song whose lyrics I never understood. This is a perfect heavy metal and a head-banging song. The lyrics go something like Gimme fuel, Gimme fire, Gimme that which I desire. If someone understands the meaning, please tell me what it means.

9) Every Breath you Take - A song by the group Police. The guitar and the drums are in absolute symphony here. The vocals is magic. A perfect song for dedication to anyone. There was this remix by puff daddy and he dedicated it to BIG who was shot dead a few years back.

10) Pour Some sugar on me - A song by the group def leppard. This guys rocked major time. This song is probably the best song by them. The beginning of this song is so heavy! This song is my alarm on my stereo. It never fails to wake me up. The lyrics are like * “ Pour some sugar on me in the name of love”.

11) Smells like the teen spirit - A song by the group nirvana. As the name suggests it is all about the teens … dope, weed and stuff like that. There is this story behind this song. Read MS members Calvin’s review on the best English songs . Another rocking song.

12) Final Countdown - A song which will be remembered for generations to come because it holds good in so many context. A song by the group Europe. This was the song used in the 1992 cricket world cup. Everyone has heard this song.

13 Power of love - * You don’t need money, you don’t need no style, you don’t need no credit card to ride this train *. Sounds Familiar? That’s the power of love and the power of this song. This song by Huey Lewis is so hard to forget. It was the song, which was used so many times in the movie “ Back to the Future”.

So that’s the list. Please comment and let me know if I have missed any song worthy of being on this elite and privileged group
